I Was Kidnapped By My English Teacher
The soft rays of the sun peek through my lilac curtains, I can hear the faint chirping of birds as well as the sizzling of bacon, and I can almost taste the smell in my mouth, well if that makes any sense. I don't think it does but who cares because today is the best day of the year, my birthday.
I jump out of bed and run to my door pulling it open and see my mom and dad standing there ready to knock on the door.
"Happy birthday honey bunch." Mom says in a chirpy voice. "Make a wish." She tells me and I do so blowing out my seventeen candles.
"Thanks Mom and Dad, you're the best. And I'm sure my croustades, honey almond polenta and cranberry almond caramel pancakes are going to be amazing as usual mom." I suppose that's one of the perks of having a gourmet chef for a mom, you get fancy eggs, hot cereal and diabetes on a plate for breakfast.
"You know Quinn, you've been with us for 10 years now, and I still don't understand how you always manage to surprise us instead of us surprising you." Dad says, a look of astonishment on his face.
"Okay Sweetie well you already know that breakfast is downstairs, so dad and I will be on our way." Mom says "Don't be late for school."
"Well you know my dad is kinda principal, so I'm sure he'll let it slide." I say jokingly
"I don't think so missy, not this time." Dad says
"Well, I also have this feeling that my homeroom teacher is gonna be a bit late so a few minutes extra won't really matter." I say and my parents leave the room shaking their head at me, and I can't help but laugh.
Today really is going to be a good day.

"Happy birthday Quinny" Becca says-well more like screams- taking me into a huge hug. "You are going to absolutely looove you gift." She says handing me a silver glittered bag with pink paper coming out from the top.
I take the bag and can't help but smile at the thoughtful gift, a framed picture of Becca and me smiling, half our teeth missing. I remember when my mom took this picture, not Judy, my real mom Delia Valentine. I mean I love the Coleman's they're amazing Judy and Paul have always been like my real parents and they've done so much for me but I can't just forget my birth parents.
Gosh, I love Becca this is the most amazing and thoughtful gift ever. Other than my name Becca has been the only constant in my life since my parents died. I've known her since I was five, we've been best friends for twelve years now. In fact we're more than best friends, we're sisters.
"Thanks Becca, I love it. So so much." I say my voice cracking.
"Oh my gosh Q are you crying?" Becca says taking me into another hug.
"No, there's just something in my eye. It's just your gift is so thoughtful, and I love it so much, and I just miss my mom and dad so so much." I say wiping away my tears.
"Oh gosh, well you better wipe away those tears real because here comes Ben." She says slipping away.
Oh gosh Ben Harper is a dream, his dirty blonde hair and green eyes and that jaw line oh god I could die. He's like every girl dream, and he's all mine.
"Happy birthday babe." He says smashing his lips against mine, "I got you a gift." He says handing me a small box. In it is a necklace with an indigo colored stone the size of a small pebble.
"I love it Ben, do you mind." I say handing him the necklace. As he puts it around my neck I can feel is warm breath tickling the back of my neck.
"I thought it would complement your eyes." He says
"Really, is that so?" I say knowingly
"Okay not really that's what my mom said when I showed her what I was getting you." He says
"Well tell Angela she was spot on, it really does complement my eyes." I say, Ben is so lucky his mom is amazing, she manages to be a single parent, and a good one at that and she's still the CEO of her company Harper Co.
"I will. So are you having a good day?" he asks gosh he's so sweet, I have the best boyfriend ever. I nod in response. "Well I don't mean to spoil it but I heard Mr Levi wanted to see you in his office after school." I frown at this.
My English teacher wants to see me, in his office. That's strange, no teacher has ever wanted to see me after school, I mean my grades are always good and I'm a fantastic student, my homework's always done, so why would Mr. Levi want to see me?
"Hey don't worry it's probably nothing, he must be calling you in to rave about one of your essays or poems or something. Heck he might even just want to wish you happy birthday." Ben says walking me to my next class.

I stand before the large dark wood door with the words 'Mr. L Levi English Department' ingraved on a gold plate. I knock three times and wait.
"Come in." I hear his velvety voice say, Mr. Levi's voice has always been so soothing and soft. It could almost put you to sleep, I mean not that I've fallen asleep in his English class or anything.
I enter and stand before his large oak desk.
"Take a seat Miss Valentine." He instructs and I oblige "I heard that you're celebrating your seventeenth birthday today. A large milestone for some wouldn't you say Miss Valentine." God I wish he would stop calling me 'Miss Valentine', it's so annoying.
"Thank you Mr Levi. You do know you can call me Quinn right, that's what all the other teachers call me." I says in the sweetest voice I can manage. he laughs at this
"Well Miss Valentine why don't we have a celebratory drink in honour of your seventeenth birthday." He says handing me a glass of what looks like champagne.
"Oh Mr Levi I can't, I'm under age. My father would definitely not approve of this." I say, the nerve of this guy, what does he take me for a fool. As if I'd be stupid enough to take a drink from a teacher of all things.
"But Miss Valentine it is your seventeenth birthday, and I know for a fact that you've had more than one glass of champagne in you seventeen years. Besides its grape juice, do you think I'd be stupid enough to have alcohol on campus?"
"Oh well in that case cheers" I say drinking up all the contents of my glass. "So Mr Levi why did you call me to your office it clearly wasn't to wish me happy birthday, right." Wow I must really be tired, I can feel my eyelids falling.
"Your right Miss Valentine, but I'll need you in a more manageable state for that." What is he talking about, a more manageable state, what the heck.
"Mr Levi I have no idea what you're talking about." I can feel sleep coming.
"All in good time Miss Valentine, all in good time." He says, that's the last thing I remember before it all goes dark.
***
My eyes open to a bright white light and I can't help but bring my hands to my face to block out the light, only to realise that my hands are tied to something.
Fuck. What happened? The last thing I remember was meeting Mr Levi. I start panicking.
"Good you're awake." I look up to see Mr Levi smiling.
"What, what's going on? My parents are not going to be happy about this. Kidnapping is a felony and they're most probably wondering where I am. you could go to jail." I say only to get no reaction from him. "Where the fuck am I!" I scream
"Welcome to BANE, Miss Valentine."
