"Juliette? As in like, Romeo and Juliette?"
I resisted the urge to roll my eyes as yet another one of my new teachers commented on my name. "Yep!" I said through gritted teeth before sliding into an empty chair.
I ran a hand through my curls, and then took out my tattered notebook. I tried my best to focus on what Mr. Reed was rambling on about, but my mind wandered to my upcoming audition.
Lichfield School of the Arts was famous for it's incredible Musical Theatre program. I begged my mom to let me try out when I was in tenth grade, but she refused, saying I needed to focus more on my studies.
My dad, however, insisted that I had star power, and filled out the application without her consent the next year. She was pissed, but hey.
I actually made it.
Getting into the school musical back at public school wasn't a big deal, seeing as only a handful of people showed up to the audition. But Lichfeild was packed with talented kids, and saying I had competition was an understatement. "Footloose" was one of my favorite musicals, and I just couldn't wait to take part in the production.
I snapped out of my daydream when I felt a sharp tug on one of my curls. "Hey!" I exclaimed, whipping around to face the culprit. Sitting behind me was an adorable green-eyed boy. I felt my cheeks turn scarlet.
"Uh, can I help you?" I asked after a few awkward seconds. "I like your curls, Juliette," The boy said, a trace of a British accent in his voice. I cleared my throat before saying, "Thanks..."
He smiled, exposing two dimples on either side of his face. "It's Harry. Harry Styles." Harry. The name was so fitting. Perfect for such mysterious boy.
He opened his mouth to say something else, but was cut off by piercing sound of the bell. I gave him an empathetic smile before turning away to pack up my things and go, but he grabbed my wrist just in time.
"Why are you so eager to leave?" He laughed. "I need to make it to the theatre early. I might be able to squeeze in some extra practice before Mr. Pace shows up." I told him.
"Ah," he said. "So you're trying out for the musical?" I nodded. "Yeah. What about you?"
"I am as well. So, are you auditioning with the dialogue, or with the monologue?" He asked.
"Monologue...My partner bailed on me." I was lying straight through my teeth. I just couldn't find someone who I could really connect too, as the dialogue was between a boy and a girl.
"Really? That's Hilarious. Mine did too." He said. "Maybe...we could do it together?"
My jaw dropped just slightly. One of the most gorgeous boys I had ever seen just asked me to perform a romantic monologue with him. "Are you serious?"
He chuckled. "I'm serious. Would you be the Ariel to my Ren?"
