I Should...

Andrea Fernandez

"So, you really ain't gone give me none?" My soon to be ex-boyfriend asked me.

"No. Trey, I'm tired of fucking. That's all we ever do. Why can't we go do something instead of being laid up all the fucking time?" I whined.

"Because, I love sex. So if you don't giveqme none then you can just say goodbye on your fuckin way out." He said with a shrug.

"Fine Trey. I don't wanna fuck you all day, every day." I said, grabbing my purse and climbing off the bed.

"Fuck you then hoe." He said snickering.

"I'm so glad I didn't move in with you. I'm so tired of this shit!" I screamed, walking out the room.

I walked out his house and begin walking down the street. I can't believe this happened, Again! I always let niggas walk over me but hey, this is all I know. This is what people did to my moms. All niggas do is fuck me, ask for more and when I finally say no, they kick me the fuck out their lives. I really need to get my shit together but I don't even know where to start. I wipe the tears that I didn't realize had fallen.

"I am not about to walk this long ass walk." I said to myself.

I pulled my phone out my purse and called my best friend. She answered on the second ring. I explained what went on to her and she said she was on her way. This is why I love her, she'll always have my back. About ten minutes later, she pulled up and I hopped into her car.

"I told you that nigga wasn't no good." She scolded me.

"I know, I know. You were right. You always are. Please don't start scolding me and shit today though. I admit you were right, isn't that what you wanna hear?" I asked rolling my eyes.

"Actually no. I want to hear you say that your done with these fuck niggas and that your gonna get yourself together." She said shaking her head.

"Brianna, stop please. Nobody's perfect." I said having a tear drip down my face. I turned my head so that she wouldn't see.

"Okay, Okay. I'm sorry. I just hate seeing you being treated like your not shit. You're beautiful as fuck and you acting like your ugly as hell. Boo, you just need to restart." She told me. I took in every single word she said.

"I know." I mumbled.

"You have the most beautiful talents. I don't know anyone who can sing, rap or dance like you. You needa but it to work though." She told me.

I zoned her out. I know she's right but I just can't. I don't know how. This is all I know. It's not like anyone wants me though. I mean look at me. I feel ugly in the inside. I know I'm beautiful on the outside but shit, everything not about beauty. I guess I'm just a little tired of being walked on all the time. I really do need to start all over.

"No, daddy I want some candy not chips!" My daughter, Cheyenne whined.

"Okay, fine. Go get them." I told her.

"Yayy! I love you daddy." She sprinted down the candy aisle.

I'm twenty-four with a four going on nineteen daughter. I can't say I'm not living my life though. I wouldn't change anything even if I could. Cheyenne moms really ain't in her life, she said that I'm too nice and she regrets having Cheyenne. I don't understand how she thinks a nigga is TOO nice or the fact that she regrets having my child. I can't have all that negative shit around my daughter anyways. She signed over Cheyenne the same day she disappeared. Jasmine hasn't called to check on Cheyenne since...never. That's cool though, fuck her. Too nice?

"Daddy, here!" Cheyenne screamed at me.

"Aye, screamed again and you won't have nuthin' but some salt lil girl." I scolded.

"Oops, I'm sorry daddy." She apologized holding her head down.

"Yeah, it's cool. Don't be sad baby girl. You know ion like when you yell though." I said picking her up.

"Okay." She says hugging me tightly and placing a lot of candy on the counter.

"You can only have on pack of candy tonight and you gotta save the rest, ight?" I asked.

"Okay. I wanna eat the life savers first. They're my favorite." She says smiling a wide smile.

"I know." I said shaking my head.

I paid for all the candy and walked out the store. I had the bag of candy in my left hand and held Cheyenne with the other. I heard two female talking and they sounded like they were coming closer.

"See, Andrea there really are good niggas. He taking care of his pretty daughter." One girl said.

I looked towards them and one had he hair straight down her back. Her friend was really cute with her hair naturally curly. Shawty fine too. I flashed her a smile when I caught her staring. She blushed but sent me a smile back.

"Your daughter is so cute." The one with straight hair complimented Cheyenne.

"Thank you." Cheyenne said giggling.

"You're welcome cutie. How old is she?" She asked me.

"Five." I replied.

"Aww, what's her name?" She asked.

"Cheyenne." I said.

"Well, I'm Brianna and this is my best friend Andrea." She introduced herself.

"I'm Chevaye but people usually just call me Vaye." I said shaking both of their hands.

"Okay, well I guess we'll see you around. I just had to prove something to my best friend. Sorry to interrupt your time with your daughter. I know you probably need to get home to her mom." Brianna said.

"Oh, nah it's cool. I gotta leave though. She gets real fussy." I said with a chuckle, placing her in the back seat.

"No daddy, I wanna ride up front with you." Cheyenne whined.

"Well, climb up there but don't open that candy. You ain't ate yet." I stated poking her little chubby cheek.

"Okay." She said climbing in the front seat.

"See." I said turning back to them.

"Yeah, well we'll see you around sometimes hopefully." Brianna said as they started walking into the store. Shit, I can't just let her get away. Shawty fine. I hurried to grab her hand just as Brianna walked in the store.

"Wait." I said with a smile.

"Yeah?" Andrea asked.

"Why you being so quiet?" I asked.

"I don't know. I really don't got nothing to say to no one at this point." She explained with a shrug.

"Lemme, get ya numba?" I asked.
"I don't know about that. I mean you seem nice but I just got out a relationship and-" I cut her off quick.

"It ain't even like that. I mean I wanna get witcha but just friends would be cool for now, beautiful." I said with my million dollar smile. She blushed.

"Okay, okay but I'm not that pretty." She said holding her hand out for my phone.

"Shidd, ion know who told you that shit. Don't put yaself down ma. You pretty as fuck." I told her tapping her nose and handing over my phone.

"Yeah, okay." She said putting her number in and handing it back to me.

"Well, I'll call you later on tonight ight?" I asked.

"Okay." She said sweetly. I gave her a hug and walked around the other side to the driver's side. By the time I started the car, buckled in and looked at the door of the store, she was gone.

"Daddy, she's pretty." Cheyenne said, smiling.

"Yeah, I know." I agreed, pulling off into the streets of New Orleans.
