We betray ourselves to ourselves.

Stabbing snakes into our own hearts like javelins.

Stabbing javelins into the snakes.

Stabbing at our hated, heated minds with hurtful words.

we are, each and every one of us, a slave.

A slave to our bleeding wounds, self inflicted.

a slave to the shrines, erected in our honour.

A slave to our honour, as honour amongst thieves is not honour, it is distrust, and we steal from ourselves.

When we burn our bridges, it is because we know what it means to drown.

The water will cleanse our souls, but it will not cleanse us of our deeds.

The water will burn us, but it will not sterilise our bones.

The water is within us, but we are detached from it, just as we are detached from our bones.

We are but a culmination of our deeds, in the end.

Our tears fall to our hands.

Our hands reach for our loved ones.

Our loved ones are disgusted by what we have become, for they see it in themselves.

We are the great betrayers.

For all that we are, we hate so much more.

For all that we are, our messy bodies our burning themselves while our brains freeze, from the inside out.

For all that we are, we are nothing.
