A dew drop dripped on Ivykit's nose and she sneezed. She got up stretching and stifled a yawn then froze. Tallpoppy and Owlkit were missing. Ivykit turned in circles looking around the empty den almost beginning to wail. She was alone!

Ivykit raced for the nursery entrance. "They're missing!" She yowled.

As she looked around she noticed Rowanclaw and Tawnypelt sharing tongues had stopped to stare at her. The only elder, Boulder, a skinny gray tom was nibbling on a mouse. He looked up at her. The elder never spoke much. Ivykit stared frantically around camp when Whitepaw, Tawnypelts apprentice padded up to Ivykit with a twitch in her whiskers.

"They're in the medicine den Ivykit don't worry. Owlkit is just starting to get a little sneeze. Blackstar ordered Tawnypelt, Rowanclaw and Kinkpaw to repair the nursery roof. Tallpoppy is furious," Whitepaw announced. "You should stay out of the nursery while we repair it. Maybe you can go check on how Owlkit is doing." Whitepaw nodded towards the nursery before padding away to meet up with Kinkpaw who was just stirring from the apprentice den.

Ivykit felt hot with embarrassment and scampered off toward the medicine den. Once she entered she heard a tiny sneeze. Her heart nearly stopped. Could Owlkit have greencough? How awful would it be if she were to be apprenticed before him and he be sick! Ivykit rushed in, in panic.

"There you are," Tallpoppy purred and padded over to Ivykit licking her head. "I was beginning to worry you'd sleep till sunhigh."

Ivykit looked to her mother then to Littlecloud standing over Owlkit. "Is he going to be alright?" She asked in a low voice to her mother.

"Just a small shiver. Nothing a nice warm nap and some borage leaves won't fix," Littlecloud answered before Tallpoppy could even get a word out. However she just nodded her head as if she knew Owlkit would be safe in his paws.

"He's right Ivykit now lets leave your brother to rest," Tallpoppy suggested and led Ivykit out of the strong scented den and back out into the light of the camp. Leaf-bare was coming towards an end and the leaves were staring to bud out.

"Ivykit," Tallpoppy began once she reached the fresh-kill pile and sat down facing her daughter. "I need to talk to you about something really important."

"I know."

Tallpoppy tensed and her gaze hardened. "You didn't tell your brother did you?" She almost said with a venomous hiss.

"I um..." Ivykit looked down at her paws wishing she hadn't said anything.

"Ivykit!" Her mother voice rang in her ears.

"I saw you leave the nursery two moons ago during the night and I wanted to follow, but Owlkit woke up and you started coming back so we both acted like we were sleeping and I overheard you talking to Littlecloud about making me an apprentice before Owlkit! I'm sorry!" Ivykit meowed nearly out of breath

Tallpoppy looked taken aback for a moment, but then her tone turned calm. "Did Owlkit hear this?"

"I don't think so, I think I confused him. He hasn't acted jealous or asked me anything. I told him you were just going to get some sleeping herbs," Ivykit admitted with her head hung low.

Tallpoppy took a deep breath and almost started again until the border patrol returned through the pine tunnel. "Thunderclan are letting in the dumbest rogues they can find!" Ivykit recoginzed her fathers voice at once. Cedarheart, the dark gray tom was following in after the deputy Russetfur followed by his apprentice Ratpaw and Russetfur's apprentice Snakepaw.

"How could he not see that two-legged trap with his own two eyes?" Ratpaw meowed with a dark menace.

His brother, Snakepaw purred. "Goes to show kittypets don't belong in the clans!" Both apprentices padded towards Ivykit and Tallpoppy.

"We'll discuss this later," Tallpoppy meowed under her breath and approached her mate to hear how the dawn patrol had went.

Ivykit huffed. Why was she so angry with her? It was Tallpoppy's choice to apprentice her before Owlkit not hers! How could her mother be so rude?

"I bet Ivykit would of known if there was a twoleg trap ten fox lengths away wouldn't you Ivykit?" Ratpaw asked.

"What happened again?" Ivykit padded up to the two as they dug into a piece of fresh kill.

"One of the kittypets kits got out of the Thunderclan camp and got his tail caught in a fox trap," Snakepaw explained while after he had swallowed his bite.

Ivykit knew what they were talking about. Just a few moons ago the Thunderclan leader, Firestar, had accepted a rogue queen into Thunderclan with her three kits. All of Shadowclan had made a big deal about it, but Ivykit saw no fault in it. More cats meant more warriors to protect borders and fetch fresh-kill. Right? Ivykit shook her head.

"What a mouse-brain." She responded with a twitch of her whiskers and grabbed herself a tiny mouse. She padded a little ways off in a small patch of sun and began to eat. She couldn't help but feel bad for the small scrap. His poor tail being chopped off.

(Authors note: If you are currently reading The New Prophecy or the first three Power of Three books you'll realize Snakepaw(Snacktail), Ratpaw(Ratscar), Kinkpaw(Kinkfur) and Whitepaw(Whitewater) are not featured in those books. This is because they are brought up in the Power of Three: Eclipse as warriors. I wanted to feature them as apprentices too since they are never listed as apprentices. I apologize its not exactly going along with the books. Some other warriors that are not listed till the Eclipse that I will be using are: Crowfrost, Toadpaw(Toadfoot), and Snowbird. Thanks for the support! :)
