“We are not the same, and that’s making things so difficult”  - Good Shoes

***

Andrea had been sitting in the same spot on her bed for 2 days straight. Her legs were numb, and she only talked to Kyra once. She’d figure if she kept hiding from her she’d have a S.W.A.T team out there searching for her. But she was only hiding from the twins; Laurent to be exact. She still couldn’t wrap her mind around his true secret.

A werewolf?

She felt like she was stuck in the Twilight Saga, she was just glad she didn’t see him turn into a big furry ass wolf or she’d probably need a stray jacket and a white padded room. All of this felt like some weird ass movie. She didn’t even know this kind of shit existed in real life. But deep down, she didn’t want to stay away from him, she just needed some time to wrap her mind around this; most importantly, to see if it’s even real. She finally got up out the bed, once she got feelings back in her legs, and jumped on her laptop. She compiled all of her notes on him and doubled it with some wolf notes. Minutes turned into hours as she’d been up all day, one website to another giving her all this vital information. Then one caught her eye, the topic on Mating Season.

The male alphas choosing a lady of their desire by scent, sight, touch, and fantasy to become one of them. Their vision on what these ladies may look like is what slowly detours the transformation, such as in sense, hair color, eye color, ears, finger nails, speed, strength, all powered by aggression. Blood pumping or pulse racing,

“No one runs my pulse higher than him, or makes my blood boil”  everything was starting to make sense to Andrea as she grabbed some more white fibers of her hair. She’s Laurent’s’ mate…and he knew it all this time.

Why does this sound so familiar?”

Puzzled and tired of guessing the answers, she called him up just to get it straight from the source. Surprised he answered, she forgot what to say and then just kept it straight, “we need to talk” she told him where to meet her and what time and he agreed. She hung up, gathered up her notes for private vacancy, and got ready to go meet Laurent.

Andrea picked a local coffee shop for technical and safety reasons. Just in case this got out of hand, he probably won’t rip her head off in front of a bunch of people who don’t know his secret.

“Why would I do something like that to you?” his voice sent chills down her spine as she turned around and glanced up at him. He looked at her reaching down to kiss her cheek.

He still smelt good, and his kisses were still rich with care and affection. Maybe this man really did love her. But she had to confront this problem so it won’t be an issue, or get any weirder than it already has been.

“You look exhausted” Laurent spoke first.

Andréa nodded “Haven’t gotten much sleep”. He nodded along with her and it got quiet again.

“This is weird” Andréa blurted out. “It only is if you make it that way, love” the way he called her that still gave her goose bumps and knots in her stomach. She swallowed hard “I don’t know where to start”

“I do” he said ending her beginning. He reached over pulling her seat closer to his; Andrea cringed but let him do so. He scooted closer to her as well and leaned down to whisper in her out of ear shot from everyone else.

“I would never hurt you, Andréa; you can trust me on that”

Andrea sighed then rolled her eyes “So tell me”

“Tell you what? Everything or what you can handle?” her expression softened. “You tried to tell me at the club that night didn’t you?” Laurent’s face became hallow; he rubbed his chin nodding his head at the same time.

“I saw it all in your face, that’s why I held back. I knew you'd be scared”

She chuckled at the way he pronounced the word, “I’m trying not to be...I just feel like I’m stuck in some Twilight Saga movie rip-off”

Laurent chuckled. “So you’d be Bella and I’m Jacob then, right?” Andréa returned his chuckle with a small giggle “That’s a way of putting it yes, but she handled it better than me” he smiled at her

“So do I have an Edward I should be worried about?” he asked in his over protective voice. She wiggled in her seat getting closer to her, “not that you know of” she said with a huge grin. She was finally starting to relax, he was still the same guy she met a couple of days ago and was happy nothing has changed that.

“So, this mating thing” Laurent looked at her with wondering eyes and she answered his question reading his mind.

“Yeah, I know about it”

He stared at her for a second then looked back down at his hands. Andrea scooted closer to him looping her right arm with his left forearm.

“Does it hurt?”

“Mating?” he asked her with a hint of humor in his voice, she nodded generously.

“It don’t affect you, it’s like getting married in wolf terms” Laurent hated talking like he enjoyed being this way. Andrea eyed him suspiciously, “so you’ve envision me being your wife, huh?”

Laurent cocked a smile, then looked at her and got serious again:

“I try to force mating, thinking if I have someone by my side it‘ll make this whole thing a lot better, but mating does not work like that. It has to be real. It has to be with someone who gives you this feeling that’s non-human…almost not real” he took a minute to continue then just started laughing, “no one has ever raised my blood higher than you and I’ve only been around you for a few days”.

Andréa readjusted herself in her seat “I’ve been seeing this girl, in my dreams. My dreams are real. I see her, she has lite grey eyes, beautiful rich soft skin, long black curly hair” he leaned into to her and inhaled her scent.

“A scent much stronger than a drug” then he gently placed a kiss on her neck, making the hairs stand up “and the urge for any man to kill just to taste her”

Andrea breathed deeply, “Wow, and you believe that’s me huh” she asked him.

Laurent looked straight at her, “your hair’s already changing, your already having the dreams; it’s you love”

Andréa felt flattered, “but wait, how do you know I can give you what you want?” she asked hypothetically. Laurent started blushing into his cheekbones, “like I said, my dreams are real; your real, not a dream. And I know how I make you feel. I make you nervous, I give you chills, make your breath grow cold and your body hot”

Andréa had nothing to say, “I can’t believe my boyfriend is a werewolf, but I can’t stay away from you, so I want this to work” Andrea wrapped her other arm around him. The verge to comfort him was much stronger than her fear. Laurent looked down at her “Did you mean what you say? What you called me?”

“Werewolf”

“No. Boyfriend”

    Andrea had to smile. “Yes.”

Laurent smiled as well; “If that’s what you call me, then that is what I am to you” Laurent pushed both her legs together making her closer to him.

“But I think we both know what is between us is far deeper than that” Andrea nodded and her expression softened. “I’ve missed you” he said kissing her forehead “Why did you ask me to meet you?”

  “Because I missed you too”

“Ah.” His smile enveloped her in its sudden warmth. Andrea leaned in to kiss him, he gradually took it, and they stay in that position for what seemed like forever. Andrea just hoped she knew what she was doing and this ‘mating’ thing wouldn’t come back to hunt her. Or better yet, kill her.
