Autumn lay in a warm bed, kneading her mother's belly, her eyes were not yet opened, but she wished they were. Why can't I see them? I know my mother is right here! And my siblings are right beside me! But... I can't open my eyes! She thought to herself. She overheard her mother talking to her father,
"What are we going to do? They are going to get rid of one of our kits! But who?"
Autumn stopped kneading, 'them?' Who is 'them?' She continued to listen, now she heard a deeper voice, it must have been her father,
"We will find a way... if we have to get rid of one of the kits... lets... give away the smallest one..."
She heard a gasp escape her mother,
"You mean the runt of the litter? But that means Autumn will have to go!"
Autumn felt shocked and hurt, but kept listening as she heard the deep voice let out a growl,
"I know it's hard but she's not going to survive anyways! Look at her size! She's tiny! She will never live so it will just save us the pain of seeing her body dead!"
Silence. Not a word. After a moments pause, which felt like forever, the she cat spoke,
"Fine. But I just hope her owners are good people, like our folks."
The tom went from growling to a soft purr,
"Of course... She will go to a great family."

Later, when Autumn had gotten her feed and took a nap, she woke up hearing her housefolk talking, like they were on the phone, babbling unknown words. The only words she recognized was her own name being mentioned. Her small ears perked everytime she heard it. She felt a gentle tounge swipe across her ear. Autumn let out a long mewl. Her mother spoke gently,
"It is alright, little one. You're going into great hands..."

The next day, Autumn heard her mother's voice once again,
"Soon, she won't need milk... it is getting closer and closer..."
The tom, her father's voice rose, in a reassuring tone,
"Yes. But remember... she is going into good paws..."
"You're right... She will be fine... She is my little titanium kit..."
Autumn heard both of her parents purring, and took in their sweet scents, as they nuzzled her gently, and affectionatly. Autumn wanted to cry out,'why are you giving me away!? Why dont you hear my cries!?'
