"I'm not insane." I insist, looking at my best friend Stacy. "All I was saying is, if you have a really tall boyfriend and you're,uh... doing the deed, how can you still keep the kiss connected?".

"I don't think you're insane, exactly, more like weird, or maybe mental." She says, a smile playing at her lips. " but seriously, Eve, when have you ever considered romance? So why do you start thinking about that kind of stuff?"

We are currently sitting in my living room, where we had been for the last 4 hours, just talking like when we were younger. We had each gotten too caught up in our own lives that we forgot to make time for each other. But Stacy had experienced an excruciating breakup with her long-term boyfriend Devon, she had started to give up on romance too. So we had managed to clear 2 days out of our busy schedules and had a sleepover at my house, where our conversation topics ranged from ice cream favors to boys to periods and so on.

"I really don't know, Stace, I just get thinking about cliche movie, I guess. You know? What happens after the big make out!" I yell, turning around and pretending to make out with somebody.

"Ew ew! Oh my god! Evie! Stop, for gods sake!" She laughs.

I hit the ground with a thump and scramble to grab the plush object that knocked me over.

A couch cushion. "You are SO dead!" I yell, but she is already up the stairs shrieking.

"Bye!" I say, waving, but I doubt she sees me when she backs down the driveway in the thick snowstorm.

Brr. It really is beginning to get cold here. I wonder when the snow will let up. I am in dire need of some food and more tampons. Seeing as the storm doesn't show any sign of slowing down, and the contents of my pantry are dangerously low, I guess I could risk it and go to Wal-Mart.

The car beeps and the locks slide up. As I slide in, the smell of vanilla a leather fill my senses. I pull out of the driveway and head to Wal-mart.

My car slides into the practically empty parking lot and I easily find a parking space not far from the door, but it'll still be a challenge in the snow. I brace myself for the bitter cold as I get out of the car and almost immediately stumble back at the biting. Lets just get in, and get out, I don't want to be in there for too long.

The trek to the doors is nearly impossible but I manage to make it to the safety of the automatic sliding doors and hunt down the items that I need. Bread, soup, cheese, sandwich meat, and a few other things are all I need today.

As I'm paying for my items the cashier gives me a strange look, I can't imagine why. Maybe he's just wondering why I came out in the cold. I thank him was a small smile and head on my way out.

You can do it, Evie. Believe in yourself. You can make it back up to your car without falling on your ass, You can do it.

Just take it one step at a time. Left. Right. Wobble. Left.Right.Left. Right .Le-and my foot shoots out from under me, sending me to the ground and falling on my butt and back. With my eyes closed, I consider just laying there, letting the snow cover me up and then get plowed away by a snow plow.

"Can I help you up?" a deep voice says. But I ignore it hoping it might go away.

"Hello? Are you okay?" Dammit. He won't go away.

I open my eyes to see a hand outstretched towards my face. I grab it and pull myself off of the ground. I mumble a thanks and  turn to the boy. But I take this opportunity to get a good look at him. He's tall. Like really tall. He towers over my barely-5 foot-3 frame. He also has striking dark blue eyes framed by l black eyelashes. His dark brown hair is pushed back off his face, but a few hairs manage to come loose. To top it all off he seems thin yet muscle-y but not bulging. A good kind of muscle-y.

He coughs awkwardly when he senses that i've been staring at him all this time. A faint blush creeps up on my cheeks and I shy away to try to hide it.

"So, um, are you sure you're alright? You took quite a spill there".

"Yeah, I'm fine"

He leans down to pick up the groceries scattered on the ground and turns to me.

"Where's your car?"

"What?" I ask, a little flustered.

"Your car? Where is it?"

"Why?"

"I'm going to help you take your bags to the car. For all I know you could have brain damage or something." he states.

"Tell me your name first. So when you try to rape me in my car I can tell the police in their file" I demand, trying to maintain eye contact to seem more intimidating. " ANd why would you let me  drive a car but not carry groceries?"

He raises an eyebrow before he speaks. "Jacks. My name is Jacks. Now can you tell me where you car is?"

"Jacks, as in, plural for Jack?"

"No. Jacks as in short for Jackson."

"Oh. okay. That's my car , the silver SUV up the hill- but you don't have to carry my bags-"

"yeah, I do. Now stop complaining. I'm just trying to help a damsel in distress."

"I'm not a damsel" I retort.

" No, I guess not. But you are kind of sassy. And what are you doing here alone? Shouldn't you have a boyfriend or your mommy doing the shopping for you? You knows what could have happened if I hadn't rescued you?" he looks at me with the raise of a bushy eyebrow.

" I don't have a boyfriend. I don't live with my mother. And I can manage myself. I was just taking my time getting up is all" I state looking at him.

I click the button on my keys and the back hatch unlocks and opens. With a turn of the heel he sets them down and closes the hatch.

  "Well, see ya, I guess"

"Yeah bye Jacks. Thanks again."

"Yeah any time" he mutters, flashing me a toothy grin.

Once I'm settled in the leather seat, I buckle up  and set the car into reverse. The car begins to coast out of the spot.

"Wait! Wait!" I hear from somewhere behind my car.  Jacks knocks on the window and I roll it down. "You dropped this," he reaches out his hand, holding ym phone.

"oh my gosh. Thank you. I'm not sure what I would have done without it" I blurt, praying to God it isn't broken. But after an examination I can see that it isn't and I relax a little.

"Don't worry" says Jacks "I already put my number in it" He adds a wink and heads off.

I sigh and try,yet again, to pull out of the parking lot. The engine is quiet and only noise is the radio playing softly in the background and the occasional car honking its horn. So, to say it startles me when my phone beeps would be an understatement.

I like your jammies.

What? I look down a see the bright white clouds on the light blue landscape. Dammit. I forgot to change out of my pajamas after Stacy left. That's probably why the cashier guy was looking at me like I was a freak.  I was wearing my pajamas. but why didn't Jacks laugh?

I din't know the answer to that question but I did know a few things:

-I'm really glad I put on a bra

-My butt was cold and wet

-I managed to get a guy's number wearing clouds pajamas
