Depression is a hard thing to get over.

Once you're depressed, you think that nothing in the world will make you feel better. You eat less, you cut, you have many horrible thoughts and you genuinely have a hard time with your life.

However, depression can be rid of. It's not a permanent thing, for most anyway.

If you have depression, it's mainly because of a loss, loneliness or a memory that haunts you.

If it's a loss, think of it in a positive way. This person is now in a better place. It's also not the last time you'll see them. I'm not saying you should kill yourself, that's never the solution. Just live your life and even it's a shitty time, you have something to look forward to. And you never know, maybe your life could get better. You could get married, have kids, get the career you really want, have a nice house and maybe a couple of pets. Also, don't think of it as a loss, think of it as them looking over you. If you cut or have depression, they'll want to be down with you helping you out and wanting to make you happy. So do what they want to do, be happy. If they see you're happy, they'll be happy.

Loneliness. Loneliness is a hard one to get over because once you have the feeling of loneliness, you feel no one is there for you. You could not be more wrong. Your family, other people at your school/work, even people over the internet. All these people will always be here for you. Even strangers on the streets will come up with a conversation just to make sure you're alright. If you think you're completely alone, I know I won't be able to get you a friend from where you are, however I'll always be here to talk to you. Even if you just need someone to rant to, gossip with or even a simple hello, I'll listen to every word. Trust me, it's worked with me. I met one of my best friends on the internet. I felt like I was alone and no one was there for me. All my other best friends are doing different things to me for their lives and I barely see them anymore. I sing and felt completely talentless and unloved. Then, someone on my course messaged me on Facebook and said they recognized me from our course. We got chatting and he became one of my best friends. It then came to Monday and I didn't want to go in, but then I remember the guy I talked to on Facebook. I met him person and we clicked right away because he knew I needed a friend. Now, I'm pretty much the most popular person on the course. Everyone loves my singing and want to always be in my group. One person can change your life, so if you don't know anyone, start with me. Maybe I'll be able to give you more confidence and you can then talk to people and make friends.

A haunting memory. Memories can invade people's minds. A death, abuse, being homeless, a terrible childhood, whatever what it is, it can cause you depression. My mum went through this one. She told me the only way she managed to get over her depression through a bad memory is to make new ones which will be worth remembering. I can't really say much about this one since I didn't go through this, however, if you need more information on this type of depression, I'll ask my mum and update this paragraph.

Bullying. Bullying can always create depression. The only way to get over this sounds really harsh, but it's the truth. You've just got to accept the fact that there are gonna be bullies. You have to be the bigger person as well. If you just ignore them and find every once of strength you have inside of you to brush them off and act more mature than them, no matter how much it hurts you, they'll get bored of you because you're not giving them a reaction. I've gone through bullying many times and if I'm honest, this works every time.

Things to help get over depression:
-Talk to someone
-Eat, think of it as comfort food
-Do a challenge. When I cut, I asked for support to do a 100 day challenge where I wouldn't cut for 100 days. You'll be surprised by the amount of supporters you'll get
-If none of these work, message me! You can talk to me on here, my Twitter is @S_K_FAN, my Facebook is Heather Wiles, there are many ways to get into contact with me.

I hope this helps. If it didn't, message me with one of the above and tell me what it is specifically. I'll try my best to help you.
