I didn't wake up the next morning. Or at least not of my own accord — I heard a great crash outside which woke me up. There was a grunt and I rolled over to see flash of orange opening the door, and through it the staircase which had transformed into a slide. There were two boys in a heap at the bottom, I couldn't help but laugh.
As it was light now I could fully appreciate the room I was in. There was 5 single, four poster beds with red and golden drapes around the outside. In the middle the girls had positioned the table on top of the circular woven rug and placed five chairs around the outside. Just across from my bed (which just so happened next to the door) was situated a bathroom. Inside looked amazing, there was five sinks all with a little chest of drawers next to it — there was a cup with a tooth brush and toothpaste on each. A few of the drawers were overloaded with make up and hair stuff. I guessed the fourth one along was mine seeing all it had was a single tooth brush and a half empty pot of toothpaste.
I heaved myself out of bed and saw Lexi face down on a pillow holding a hoodie that looked way to big for her.
"Leave her, I think she needs some rest." I turned around with a jump to see Alice behind me.
"Oh, sorry!" I then grabbed my uniform out of my overflowing trunk and pulled the drapes to get changed.
I went down to the Great Hall with Lily, Marlene and Alice — Lexi didn't want to get out of bed, and I still felt irrationally guilty over what had happened between her and Sirius yesterday. We got to the Hall and sat to be immediately joined by the 'Marauders'.
"So Evans, I must say you're looking beautiful today! Does that smile have anything to do with my presence, I wonder?"
I saw Lily turn around in exhaustion and reply, "So Potter, I must say you're still as big headed and annoying as yesterday. And no, it doesn't."
I rolled my eyes at them both and turned to my plate. The food here was amazing! There was bacon, eggs, toast, cake, cereal — anything you could imagine!
"Hi, Remus," I said — seeing as he was the only Marauder I could bear.
"Hello, Brianna! Did you sleep well?"
"Very! Those beds aren't the most comfortable in the world but I could've slept anywhere last night! I was so tired!" Out of the corner of my eye I saw Lily and Marlene trying to have a conversation constantly being interrupted by James and his rubbish pick-up lines.
Quickly giving up on any attempt at making him go away, Lily decided it was time to escape and abruptly dragged me from my half-eaten food.
"McGonagall has the timetables, quick, let's go see if we have any of the same lessons!"
"Names?" McGonagall said without even looking up.
"Lily Evans." As soon as she said this a sheet floated towards her and McGonagall carried on sorting through the sheets, "and Brianna Scamander."
I caught my timetable and read through it. Potions first today, I noted with a sinking feeling. I'd always hated potions.
"Shall we compare lessons?" Lily asked whilst sitting back down.
"Sure! I hope I have at least one person I know in my lessons!" I immediately turned back to Lily. "Please tell me you have potions first!"
"Unfortunately, no, we chose different subjects for OWLs so not all our lessons will be the same. We only have potions and herbology not together!"
I put my head in my hands, pushing my hair out of my face. "Do any of you have potions first?" I asked Marlene and Alice.
"No, sorry," said Alice — whilst Marlene just shook her head, staring absent-mindedly at the Ravenclaw table.
Ugh.
"I have potions first!" I heard Remus say to James and Sirius, giving both of them high fives. Lucky me, I have three quarters of the Marauders in my least favourite lesson.
"Remus, could I possibly walk to potions with you?" I asked standing up from the table waving goodbye to Lily, Marlene and Alice. "I will get lost. I've never seen any place so big in my entire life."
The tense expectation I'd been carrying all through breakfast rose steadily within me as we headed to potions. Sirius was walking right behind me, talking in low murmurs with James, but he hadn't bugged me at all yet. I wondered with a suspicious frown about what they may be planning. From the unusually quiet tone of his voice, and the sly glances he threw at me, I didn't think it was anything good.
Suddenly the dynamic duo froze. I looked down the corridor to see a greasy black-haired boy with a hooked nose approaching.
"What's the deal with him?" I asked Remus.
"Sirius and James hate his guts..." I heard him reply with anxiety in his voice. Sirius flicked his wrist and all of a sudden the greasy dude's bag split open. Books and parchment spilled out. A bottle smashed, splashing ink everywhere. Both the boys turned around and walked over to us. I gave them a look of disgust and knelt to give the new boy a hand.
"Hi!" I said. "Here, let me help."
"Come over to tease me?" he mocked. "I saw you with them. Just leave, I don't want anymore humiliation."
"Well, actually, I came over to help," I said. The boy snorted, but I ignored him and picked up his ink splattered books and handed them to him. I didn't like him much, he seemed rude to me, but I disliked Sirius more and this was my small chance for revenge. "Here."
James and Sirius both glared at me as I joined them in the Potions classroom, but I ignored them, gazing absent-mindedly down at my ink-blackened hands. Out of the corner of my eye I was aware of Remus staring at me with a curious expression on his face, and quickly I looked away before he could see my blush.
Hello! This is Oddeyes *surprise* Yeah... I wrote this chapter. I don't really know what else to say except: if anyone wants to make a book cover, feel free because I am completely un-talented!
Thank you for reading my rather awkward authors note! Please Vote, Comment and tell us your opinions!
The next chapter will be up on Wednesday (Unless I get over-run by Wrackspurts, or the Nargles get there first!)
