‘Lily! How nice to see you!’ T-Ray said. Nice? I thought. ‘It’s been a long time since I have seen you. What, 3 years? Come and give your dad a hug.’ I stared at him shocked. And opened my arms stiffly, and gingerly put my arms around him. And quickly stepped back. ‘I’ve missed you Lils. But you’ll never guess. Look who’ve I met!’ Lils? What, a nickname? ‘Hello, I’m Dora. So pleased to meet you.’ I shook her hand awkwardly. Dora looked around 35 years, but her face made her more youthful, like me. ‘You must be Lily, T-Ray’s daughter. I’ve heard much about you. Don’t worry, all good things.’ So now he was saying good things about me? Rudely, I said ‘What are you doing here?’. T-Ray said, ‘we were gonna visit you! What, A father can’t visit his own daughter?’ He laughed peculiarly. It was that his laughed was a little strange, or it was because I’ve never heard him laugh before now. I replied a little quickly, ‘We’re going to get an ice lolly for Matthew and we’re going to go home.’ Big Mistake. ‘Oh, Look who we have here? Matthew is it? Why, isn’t he…uh, tanned.’ T-ray said uncomfortably. ‘Bye T-Ray and Dora. Come on Matthew, let’s go and get a ice lolly.’ I said. ‘YEEE! FINALLY!’ Matthew shouted.

We walked into the shop. Matthew ran towards the ice lollies faster then you could say iceys and I went to pay for it. We left the mercantile, me hoping that T-Ray had left, and Matthew happily licking his ice lolly. My wish was granted. T-Ray and Dora had gone. I breathed a sigh of relief. But there was something still bothering me. There was something familiar to the name Dora. Had I heard it before? We walked back to the unmistakable pink house. I saw the blue pick up truck again. T-Ray? What is he doing here AGAIN? ‘Ahh... Lily! Why don’t you let us in?’ said T-RAY from the front porch. Next to him was Dora, and opposite him was August, looking furious. Matthew ran into the house and the next thing I heard was the T.V. I ran to August. ‘Lily!’ she hissed. ‘When were you going to tell me that your father’, she said in a sneering voice, ‘was going to come today? WHEN?’ ‘August! I had no idea! I was at the mercantile and I bumped into him!’ We both looked at T-Ray at the same time. He was looking smug but changed his expression hastily when he realised we were looking at him. ‘T-Ray and Dora, come and have a seat.’

‘Thank you Lily.’ T-Ray said as he walked in towing Dora along. ‘Ahh… Just as I remembered it. Warm and cosy, don’t you think?’ he said to Dora. ‘Yes, it’s quite…warm don’t you think? Could you turn on the fan?’ Dora said turning to August. ‘For your information, the fan is already turned up to full blast. If ya’ll don’t like it, you can LEAVE.’ August said. ‘T-Ray, what do you want? We’re going out somewhere soon, in about ten minutes.’ I quickly made up. ‘Well, I just wanted to know if you were doing okay here. Wanted to know if one of my favourite little girls was okay.’ He said. Did I just hear T-Ray say one of his little girls? You mean he has two? ‘T-Ray, what did you mean, one of your girls?’ ‘Aww, Dang it! It was a supposed to be a surprise.’ He looked at Dora. ‘We’re having a baby!’ I looked at August in shock. She was looking wide eyed at me as well. This too much for me to handle.  ‘Okay now, Bah Bye, T-Ray and Dora.’ I said as I was pushing them out the door. ‘And…Congratulations on the, uh, baby.’ I slammed the door, not waiting for their replies. I started hyperventilating. ‘August!’ I gasped. ‘Does this seem a little familiar to you?’ ‘Should it? Although, Dora does sound like a familiar name…’ August replied. ‘August! Look at what happened to Deborah, my mother. Look at me. Now look at T-Ray.’ I pointed to the light blue pick-up truck as it was driving away. ‘Oh, I see.’ said August, realization dawning in her eyes. ‘I think it’s too much of a coincidence, Lily.’ ‘August! Dora, she even looks like my mum. And I’m pretty sure, the name Dora is an abbreviation of Deborah!’ I shrilled. ‘Lily! Will you please calm down! This situation is nothing like your previous one.’ August said. ‘We’ll have to wait and see I guess…’I whispered…
