An Old Friend

Alright, before I get started I just want to say that the reason it takes me so long to update on this story is because my computer broke a while back. I wasn't able to update it on my computer but I tried to do so on my phone. It worked, but it was a real pain. Soon after my computer was broken my mother decided that it would be a good idea to move. When we moved it took 3 weeks to get wi-fi. So yeah, the point is, I can only update this story when I'm at my friends house. Just thought you'd like to know. 

Your eyes fluttered open. It must have been hours since you had passed out  because it seemed dark. Or, darker than it had been before. Wait... what happened before anyway? You remembered some of it... but it all seemed like a dream. You looked around only to see a new environment. The walls were shifting and changing until you were.... you didn't quite know where you were but it looked familiar. People in suits and formal wear were walking around. There were tables and loader bots scattered everywhere. Time seemed to be moving quick around you, but you remained still and unnoticeable. You obviously stood out of place in this new area. Your clothes were torn and ripped, when everyone else looked like they were ready to go to a party. Something was off though. You stood there, in your dirty clothes and bruised body, but, no one seemed to notice you were there. They all walked by, oblivious to your existence. You looked around more and... you saw yourself. You were sitting at a table with someone else. Laughing. You looked so happy. But who was that other person sitting with you? You couldn't quite see his face but you saw the back of his head. He had brown hair and was wearing a brown leather coat.   After standing there for what seemed like an eternity, the man got up and turned around. It was him. Jack.

You shot up from the bed you were sleeping on, breathing hard. 'Was that just a dream?' You looked around. You were diffidently somewhere new, but you had no idea where you were. But of course, this seemed to happen a lot recently. Passing out and waking up in new places. None of that surprised you. You were in a house that was run down. You were in a bed that was made up of a run down pad, pillow, and a really soft blanket. You turned your head to see Jack in the corner of the room. He was sitting in a chair and his head was down. He must have brought you here. He looked like he was sleeping until you looked at him. His head slowly lifted up and his eyes opened. 

"Go back to bed." he said, you could hear the tiredness in his voice. You opened your mouth to protest, but he stopped you. "I know you said you never wanted me to speak to you again, but please just listen to me. It's the least I could do." 

You closed your mouth and nodded. At least you knew who he was, and from what it looked like, you two were friends... or... used to be. You laid back down and turned on your side so your back was facing him. You could feel his eyes burning holes into your back as you lay there quietly. You weren't tired enough to sleep, but he told you to, so you tired. You pulled the blanket over you and shut your eyes. The silence was calm and comforting, lulling you into sleep. 

~DREAM~

You were walking down the halls of Helios. You took a quick look at your watch, only to see that you were late. You dashed down the hallways. 'Dammit, Dammit, Dammit!' you thought, 'I can't be late again, it'll make me look like I don't care!' Jack told you to meet him at 17:00 because he had something important to tell you. When you finally got to him, he smiled and ran over to meet you half way.

"You'll never guess what I found!" he said excitingly, grabbing your wrist and pulling you to the nearest table. You sat down in the chair next to his as he pulled out a a black box about the size of his palm. He put it on the table and pressed a button, right as he did so, a map of Elpis appeared. It was a simple map, it showed all of the towns and stores... but it also had a small circle on the side of it with what looked to be an upside down V in the center of it. 

You pointed to the small circle "Is that a-"

"Vault symbol? Hell yeah! I found one on the surface of Elpis! Can you believe it?" He said

"That... that's amazing," you breathed. You didn't know what to think about this, it was great that he had found a vault, I mean, ITS A FREAKING VAULT, but you worried by the fact that he might go after it. He was a pretty smart guy, but he had never been in an actual fight before, how was he supposed to defend himself. "Are you going to go after it?" you asked.

"Of course! Why would you ask?"

"I'm just a little worried is all." You lied, you were worried, but you were REALLY worried, not 'just a little worried.' 

"Oh, I'm not going alone, I've hired some vault hunters to help." he said calmly. A look of relief came across your face. He stood up and you did too.

He pinched your cheek and chuckled, "Are you trying to say you care?"

"Of course I care Jack!" you said defensively. He put his hands up in front of his chest.

"Whoa, Whoa there, calm down... just a silly question." you went up to him and hugged him, soon after he hugged back. 

"Did you think I didn't care?" you asked softly.

"Of course not. It was just a joke." he replied. 

You pulled away and looked into his blue and green eyes. "Just.. come back okay?"

"Can do."

"You promise?"

"I promise." As he said that you smiled. You stood up on the tip of your toes and kissed his cheek. When you pulled away, you could feel the blood rushing to your face and a smirk appeared on his face. He leaned in  closer, eyeing your lips. You could feel your hands tremble and your face turn a darker red than it had already been.  Just then, Helios shook. You two separated, and you ran to the closest window to see what the big idea was. When you looked out you saw 3 things. 1)space 2) pandora and 3) DAHL ships shooting at Helios.

"Helios is under attack!" you said nervously. You quickly turned to Jack and he grabbed your wrist sprinting towards the control room. 

"The vault hunters I hired should be here soon, but in the mean time we need to get Helios' defense system back up and running." he yelled back to you as you two ran down the hallways. You got into the control room and you both speed to the control panels. He started to fiddle with them when you heard the most annoying voice come onto Jack's ECHO device.

"Jack! Your Vault Hunter is here!" clap trap said. 

"Vault hunter?" I hired three! Where're the other two?" He said.

"This is Nisha checking in." you heard. A little after, DAHL soldiers busted into the room. 

"RUN!" Jack yelled at you. You didn't have anytime to think about it so you obeyed his orders and ran out. While you were running you heard Jack's panicked voice "Help! Need lot's of Help I dunno who these assholes are, but they've got me pinned..." his voice faded away as you got further away from him. You needed to get help. But, from where? 'Loader bots..' you though, and headed down more hallways.
