Rowan's POV

Come on....Yes!!

I threw my fist up and punched the air, celebrating, before realizing that I lost my focus and the water fell all over my bed.

Oops.

I sighed, and flopped down on my bean bag. That was the tenth time I tried today and I still can't concentrate enough to simply move some water to me from across the room.

It was just so frustrating!

Both my brothers have great control over their powers and I couldn't even concentrate long enough to move water!

Sighing once again, I threw my sheets into the laundry hamper and headed downstairs.

Alex and Nate were both hogging the TV, so I just sat next to them and pulled out my phone.

"Where's Dad?"

Nate glanced at me.

"He said they're filming a scene for the new movie tonight so he's gonna be out late."

I nodded.

Our dad was out a lot, so we didn't really get to see much of him. But I tried not to dwell on that too much. I mean, at least we had a father who loved and cared for us. That's more than most kids have.

After sitting on the couch restlessly for a little while, I decided to go practice some more with our pool water instead.

'Ok, Rowan. Take a deep breathe. You can do this.' I chanted in my head over and over again. I stood in front of the pool and slowly raised my hand, the water following its lead. After a moment or so, I once again lost focus and the water fell back into the pool. I took a deep breath and prepared to try again when someone shouted from behind me.

"Freeze!"

And, inadvertently obeying that command, I felt my entire body freeze up. I slowly turned around and my eyes widened.

There, about five meters behind me, a burly man who looked about 30, was dressed in a suit, a gun pointed directly toward my face.

My mouth instantly dried up as though it was stuffed with cotton balls.

I didn't need him to show me his badge, I just knew this guy was from The Agency.

I let out a loud shriek and my body moved on its own, darting back towards the house.

The guy wasted no time in trying to get me. He was straight on my heels firing bullets. I ducked, avoiding them but one managed to graze my shoulder just as I made it to the back door.

I cried out in pain as I shut the door, turning on the security alarm.

My entire being trembled and shivered as I ran into the living room.

"Guys!" I screamed out, tears running down my face.

At the same time, they both whipped their heads around to face me.

"Rowan, you're bleeding!" Nate hopped over the couch and caught me just as my knees gave out. I was in utter panic. Someone just caught me using my powers and to top it all off, it was someone from The Agency!

Alex rushed over too, worry evident in his eyes.

"What happened?!" He demanded as Nate picked me up and carried me to the couch, pressing his hoodie to my wound.

My tears fell continuously and Nate rubbed my back as I attempted to answer.

"I was...I-I was practicing my...water control and t-then there was this guy w-who caught me." I bawled.

"Ro, it's alright, we'll just have to go talk to the guy. It's ok." Alex said, using my nickname.

I sniffed and shook my head, my tears almost gone.

"No...it's not. He was from The Agency, Alex."

Nate and Alex both visibly paled.

"Oh crap, what are they even doing here?" Alex started pacing.

"They must have been patrolling the area when they saw Rowan." Nate said.

I looked down, tears threatening to spill again. This was all my fault, I'm so stupid!

A hand cupped my chin, pulling my face up to meet chestnut eyes. Alex.

"Ro, none of this is your fault, ok? I know you think it is, but it isn't. Don't blame yourself." He told me, his voice soft.

"Yeah, Ro, don't even think about blaming yourself. This entire thing was an accident." Nate said, stooping in front me.

I nodded, allowing myself a smile and hugged them.

"Ok, Nate, take Rowan down to the basement and patch her up."

Nate nodded, picking me up bridal style, ignoring my protests.

"Wait, what are you gonna do?"

Alex turned around, a serious look on his face. "I'm going to take care of the guy from The Agency."

My eyes widened.

"Alex, you can't do that alone! You'll g-"

A huge explosion at the side of the house sent all of us flying the ground. Dust and rubble flew on top us.

When I opened my eyes, 4 agents stood there in the gaping hole in our living room wall.

They stared icily at us. "Alex, Nate and Rowan Cadewell, you are all hereby arrested for the practice of prohibited activities and-"

"What prohibited activities? We didn't do anything!" Alex shouted angrily. He and Nate were standing, returning the agents' glares. I quickly stood up.

"Do not tell lies! I saw that girl with the water! We know you're Alergans!" The red faced man from earlier screamed at us.

A calmer, more composed female agent spoke up.

"Cadewells, someone has reported you to The Agency. We know the truth, there is no sense in trying to deny it."

Wait, someone reported us? My heart raced at the thought. Who could have done that? Better yet, who could have known? Judging by the looks on Alex and Nate's faces, they were asking themselves the exact same thing.

Just then, another figure slowly approached the agents from behind.

Squinting and leaning my head slightly forward, I could see that it was....

Ryan?
