Two Days Later:
It has only been two days since the virus got out. It has crossed over the U.S boarder just like I knew it would, and yesterday we had to work. I was called to fly off to Washington state to help keep the virus back as long as possible.
Yesterday after arriving in Washington:
Location: Joint Base Lewis- McChord
I was listening to the names and where we were to be posted I heard my name and walked to the ammunition table to receive my weapon and ammo.
"Here you are Miss. West." the young soldier handed me a very nice sniper M39 Enhanced Marksman Rifle a 7.62x51mm it wasn't a 50cal but it'll do I checked the sites on the range and headed to my building I was assigned to be my post for the day.
I got to the roof and noticed a chair with a small tent cover for shade and an ice chest. When I looked inside the chest it was full of soda and water to keep me up and keep me hydrated. I sat down and called in on the radio "Whiskey is in place, over." I said I was the only one in this group with the last name that began with a W so I got whiskey all to myself.
I sat at my post for almost two hours without seeing anything then finally I saw a head pop over the hill I was watching. Then I saw another behind it and more and more. This spot isn't the best due to all the hills and mostly all the trees. I looked through my scope and counted at least a dozen by now. I called in on the radio.
"HQ this is Whiskey looking over the North-East bank I have at least a dozen targets. Permission to engage, over?" I asked waiting for my answer.
"Whiskey do any of them look to be healthy over?"
I looked through my scope and saw many missing limbs and or covered in blood with their mouths open and blood oozing from it.
"No sir, these look as unhealthy as possible, over." I asked getting in position to fire, I aimed my cross-hairs right on the first ones forehead. Just waiting for the words to let me shoot.
"Permission granted Whiskey, engage the targets, over." he said and then called to everyone over the radio. "All snipers be aware of hostiles in the North-East bank anyone see anything that isn't making human actions fire at will."
Everyone rogered in after and I began to do what I was good at. One after the other I fired and I must have killed around ten when another shot was fired and then another. Shot after shot everyone began to report.
"Hostiles in the North." "Hostiles in the East." It was a blood bath and soon it died down. Eventually they stopped coming and a helicopter was up for patrol now and us Marines were to report at HQ.
After HQ I went to my barracks and saw I had a message on my phone. I dialed to hear it. "Hey Parks its Blake, listen we got the supplies and I created a pretty sturdy barrier, it can hold off for a little but as soon as we run out of food and water it will need to come down. The bottom floor has been barricaded but almost everyone has left and its fend for yourself. I hope your staying safe. If you come here and cant find us we will be heading to Uncle Roger's here in Oregon. Ill leave a note if we leave. We love you bye."
I felt tears in my eyes and I tried to call back but it said it is out of service. That means no phones now except military.
The Next Morning:
After getting ready HQ gave us an option, either stay and fight or leave and fend for yourself. I didn't want to be a coward but I need to get to my brother and sister before anything else does. I discharged my self honorably. I got my things all in my ruck sack and decided to head out in the morning.
