Long Lost Brother

Chapter 3

* 7years later *

HoiMei woke up by the sun peeking through the window, the sleepy child looked at her side and saw Hans bed already made as always. HoiMei got up slowly from her bed to see if he's still anywhere in the room, which he is. Han is sitting at his desk on his right side of the room since they both agreed to split the room in half. HoiMei turn around again to the left side to see what time it is; 8:25 AM. She started to form a smirk on her  angelic face since she realized that it is a special day for her but mainly for him since it's the birthday boys day tomorrow, but she still has to give him a special 'birthday bonus'.
   "hehe 對不起魯漢哥哥 {Sorry Han gege}," she said to evily herself. She lay back down on her bed and 'accidentally' fell on the floor and groan in pain. The protective brother ran to his sister and held her  into his arms.
   "HoiMei 你還好嗎?!{are you okay?!} Hey. Hey!"
The playful girl couldn't handle it in any longer so she finally asked him to come closer and said
   "驚喜！{Surprise!} Happy birthday Han gege!"
Han looked at her blankly and they both laughed until he dropped her on the floor and left with a serious face. All of the babys short hard work paid of but it did give her a bruise at the back of her head *ugh*. But it was all worth it though.
   "Hehehe," HoiMei giggled to herself

Han walked back over to his desk right after HoiMei gave him his 'birthday bonus', he chuckled a little and rolled his  eyes. As he settled in his chair, he thought all those times he pulled pranks on their parents. For a little sister that he only raised for almost 7 years now is starting to learn a lot from him. Han went back to do his homework that he needed to do for class.
   He wasn't sure why his teachers gave him so much homework even on a weekend. At least it doesn't affect him doing soccer and playing guitar. HoiMei was skipping just as a girl would do as always to him.
   "Gege whatcha doing? It's Saturday and you're doing work. On your birthday...In the morning too?? What the heck?"

   "I'm finishing what I need to do so I can spend the whole day or probably the whole week with you, since it is our birthday week," Even though Han is 6 years older then HoiMei and they have the same month and it's only 6 days apart, he planned it so they won't forget who's birthday is when. "Oh okay YAY!!"

After Han was finish with his school work, him and his sister hanged out in their rooms then played outside.
   "魯漢哥哥{Han gege}, promise me you won't get adopted without me"

   "Of course I wouldn't. I don't want to be separated from my little sister, that I love the most hahaha"
HoiMei made a heart warming smile,
"Okay. Give me your pinky then," LuHan did what he was asked to do and now HoiMei raised her pinky and interlock with her brothers. Their pinkies were now between infront of their faces.
   "魯漢哥哥 {promise}"

Han and HoiMei spent their whole morning together and half of the afternoon until the Mrs. Yang, the orphanage lady who is in charge, called out Han to come in for a moment.

   "Stay here little dawn okay, you can go play with my stuff if you want. Just be careful with it 得到它了？{got it?}"

  "Okay gege, bye bye,"

Han and Mrs. Yang entered the office only to see two people sitting, facing their backs at them. But Luhan can tell that they are a married couple. LuHan had bad feeling about this.

Moments Later...
Han has a traumatized face when he exited the office, the whole time he felt he was suffocating in there so he decided to walk out to the back where the swing set is and get some fresh air. He didn't know what to say to HoiMei. The only thought in his head was her. He looked down on his necklace, 'forever for eternity.'
  "I should probably give her the extra spare soon," Han looked up to see the sun set. Trying to see on how he should tell his little dawn.

HoiMei was waiting for Mrs. Yang to return her gege back to their room. She thought playing with his stuff are fun since they do seem better than hers, but it was lame. She practiced playing the guitar that they both shared.
   "Hmmm maybe I should ask Mrs. Yang later to get me another guitar hehe it won't be a problem if I used my allowance money that gege gives me as a reward," HoiMei went through her desk drawer and sadly only counted out ¥54.27, she ran to Mrs. Yang office only to see a married couple, "they end their meeting" HoiMei guessed. HoiMei was so hype to ask Mrs. Yang.
   "楊太太 {Mrs. Yang} can you later on the week help me go to a music store with me so I can get gege a gift please~" there was a confused expression on her face by the looks of it.
   "How are you going to get a gift for your gege when you don't have any money? Huh sweetie?"
   "Easy," *^•^* the cute, little deer showed her the allowance that Han gege gives to her. But she put her head down because she knew that it wouldn't cover up that much.

   *sigh* 'I should probably buy her brothers gift then. I don't want the two little deers to be upset,' Mrs.Yang thought. "Okay I'll take you there tomorrow okay, I'm going to buy your geges gift. Just tell me what it is and I'll only buy you that hehehe. Go find Han now"
HoiMei ran to her and Han's shared bedroom again to stash away the money, she was hopping to see him in there but the little dawn only saw a glimpse of Han outside of the window.

She walked closer to see him more fully and clearly, but as she gotten closer, HoiMei saw him sitting on one of the swing sets with his head down. "he seems devastated *sigh*. Huh, what's that sparkly thing he's holding?" she thought. She decided to run out to the back to find him until she stopped her tracks only to see him in the same position again. She didn't know what to say or to do anything, but something has to be done, so she return back to her hyper-little-deer-like-self again.
    "LuHan!!~ Whatchya doing here all by yourself. Oh what's that? Can I see?^^"
   "Oh haha hey didn't see you coming. This is just nothing here I wanted to get some air since it smells like rotten eggs in there haha,"
HoiMei knew that almost half of what Han said is a lie because she knows too well about him, in plus she knows it doesn't smell like rotten eggs... it smells like rotten old socks. When Han lies, his eyes are usually almost closed when he force himself to smile at something little. But HoiMei ignoreed the fact and wanted to know more on what her gege is holding.
   "Gege is that a necklace hehe, it looks like the same as yours except one of your rings are gold,"
Han made a worry laugh but mange to change his attitude more positive.
  "haha yeah, if you're going to ask me more about this necklace I won't give it to you for your *cough cough* birthday."
   "不，不，對不起哥哥! {No, no, I'm sorry gege!} I won't ask anymore"
   "Haha good, now come on we need to go back inside, the sun is setting and it's almost evening. *yawn* We have a big week coming for us,"
  he said as he flew his arm around HoiMei so they can go back inside the orphanage. Everything was going back to normal. The next day, it's  Han's birthday so HoiMei and Mrs. Yang went to the music store and bought him a guitar as his gift. Later on the day both, Han and HoiMei celebrated the night just with having cupcakes and juices boxes. HoiMei gave Luhan his gift. He was very surprised by her action. All he could do right now to his little dawn is a hug.

The night went on until the day after the birthday celebration, Han started to act negative around HoiMei. HoiMei noticed and she didn't want to interfere, she thought it's her birthday bonus but she thought wrong when Luhan bump into her.
  "Ugh watch where you're going HoiMei gosh, you're so clumsy" she finally lost her patience and snap back at him.
   "Me?! Clumsy?! I'm the one who's trying to give you space since you have been acting weird lately. BUT NOOOO. It's somehow MY fault that I accidentally and actually the first time I bumped into you! What did I even do to you?? Look if this is some kind of joke your doing, it's going way too far and wh-,"
   "Could you please keep quiet, you are so annoying! I wish I was already adopted. Without. You. Or at least wished for mom and dad back than having you!  And I mean it, I am tired of your childish ways. You should know how to raise yourself now since I picked up your slack for 6 years now. Why can't you do it now,"
HoiMei gotten cut off in mid sentence and stood there frozen, trying to sync in on what he just said to her. Her legs almost lost her balance which made Luhan notice that she was still in the room. Moment of silence until HoiMei ran off out of their shared bedroom and cried.
   "HoiMei I'm trying not to be the bad guy here, but can you please just go outside until it gets dark out thank you"
