Have you ever seen a spider web? I'm sure you have. You know how it twists and turns to ensnare any bugs that fly into it? Well, this is the story of how I went from the spider, to the bug.I was sitting next to Grace while Gerald and Alice sat across from me, we had decided that Mary Sue's Grand Buffet was the best place to celebrate Grace's birthday, before we headed off to Amaze-Mountain Amusement Park. "Alright, I'm going for seconds." Gerald announced, standing up.
"Seconds?! We just got here." Alice said.
"Well, we already passed the buffet on our way to the table, I had to grab something." Alice stared at him in awe. "What can I say, I'm a foodie."
"Oh my god, don't ever say that again, ever." Alice warned.
"Alright love birds, break it up." I said. Alice blushed, it was no secret that Alice likes Gerald, not even to Gerald himself.
"I'm going with him." Grace put in.
"Me too." I said.
"Me three." I gave Alice a playful nudge on the shoulder to say 'you're only going because Gerald's going' and she shoved me away.I headed straight for the pizza and grabbed a slice of pepperoni; I also got some garlic bread and fries. "Now to the dessert station so a cookie can accidentally fall onto my plate." I joked to myself. When I arrived at the dessert buffet there were no cookies left to eat. "Aww man, back to the table I guess."
I was the first to get back to the table and I noticed a small piece of paper on my plate; I picked it up and read the scribbled words on the page:
I know what you did.
-J
"What the... what kind of horror movie cliché is this?" I asked myself, dismissing the note as just a prank.
"Whatcha reading?" Grace inquired, carrying a plate piled high with treats.
"Just this weird note I found on my plate, check it out." I handed her the note and she looked it over for a second before speaking.
"Better check under your bed before you go to sleep tonight." Grace joked as she discarded the note on the table.Later in the day we were just getting off the Thunder Storm (one of the many roller coasters in the amusement park) when we decided to get some ice cream. The overly cheery cashier handed me the bill and another piece of paper was attached to it, I read the new note:
You know what you did.
-J"No, I don't." I thought aloud.
"You don't what?" Grace asked.
"There's another note attached to the bill, look." All my friends huddled around the small slip of paper.
"This has to be more than a coincidence." Gerald said.
"Yeah, but it's obviously a prank." Alice put in.
"Maybe you can ask the cashier who gave her the note to put on the bill." Grace suggested. But when we looked up the cashier was already gone.
"Where did she go?" Alice inquired.
"You know what, forget about it." I crumpled up the paper and threw it into the nearest garbage can. "Let's go on the Spinning Top next."We had a lot of fun that day, going on countless rides and announcing to the whole world that it was Grace's birthday. "Can you believe your finally a teenager?" I asked as we walked towards the water park.
"I know, it's crazy." She replied.
"Took you long enough, 13 years, geez." I joked. I noticed that the Whirly Roller Coaster was coming up on our left and started walking towards it.
"Hey Violet, maybe you'll meet your stalker on one of these rides." Gerald teased.
"I'm not being stalked, I'm being pranked." I argued. But that night when I got home I wondered if I really was being stalked. I know what you did. I thought to myself. You know what you did. But what did I do? I couldn't think of anything. It must really have been just a prank.
By Monday I had almost completely forgotten about the notes and my stalker when things got weird again. "Hey Violet, apparently Omar and Staci are dating now." Alice whispered to me as I headed to my locker before lunch.
"I so called it." I bragged.
"You really did though." We arrived at my locker and I noticed a sticky note stuck on the door. "Ooh, you got one of those notes that people have been leaving all over the school." At first I thought she was right, a mystery person (or mystery people) had been leaving nice notes on people's lockers ever since the beginning of the year and it always felt good to get one, but this note was different:
