Chapter 1

Katrina POV

I looked around the dark forest, the trees swaying as a gently wind nipped at the branches. I heard a howl to my right, it sounded as tho the creature who had made the sound was right next to her ear.

I had been running through the thick woods, running from the beast chasing her with its mouth In a nasty snarl, drool dripping from its large K-9's.

A loud crash could be heard in front of her. A tree had fallen over the small trial that she had been following. She looked around trying to find a way to escape the beast that had been drenched in blood from innocent people.

Before she could think the beast had jumped onto her, pinning her arms and legs to the cold earth. It stared into her eyes before...

She awoke from a sickening nightmare, the same as all the other ones she has been having. Every time she dreamt it the beast had always caught her, she wondered if she had been able to out run that horrid creature, if it would leave her dreams alone.

Before she could ponder it anymore she got up to get ready to her flight to Green Bay, Wisconsin. Her parents had lived there for many years now, they had always loved the snow and the thick greenery around their small cabin like house.

Her mother had been so happy she was going down to visit, after they had the fight they've been distant. Whenever they talked it was always awkward and uncomfortable. Still she loved them no matter what.

She'd glanced at the clock on her bedroom wall, it was about 7:48am. That meant she had about 45 minutes to spare. Quickly she got out of bed going to her small bathroom in the apartment she's been living in. With her being in New York and not having a lot of money she lived in a small apartment that was pretty poor.

Hopping into the shower, she quickly ringed the hair products out of her tangled hair. Her hair was a dark brown, which matches her chocolate fudge eyes. She didn't look like her parents, anyone would just think they were friends. She'd been asked who her mother was when her friends first met her Mother.

Getting out of the shower she quickly dress in some black skinny jeans, with a grey sweatshirt. To add to the outfit she put on her white converse and a grey beanie. Her comfy outfit was perfect who the long flight.

Packing what was left of the things she needed. She picked up her 2 suitcases and black purse. Rushing she half walked half ran down the stairs. She knew that the traffic would be crazy, and getting a taxi. Well maybe not the taxi part, there's a lot of those here.

She hailed a taxi, the traffic looking like a horde of zombies from The Walking Dead. The taxi driver helped but her suitcases in the trunk, then helped her into the car. The man driving the taxi  looked in her 40's with a small beard forming on his chin. "Ehh to the airport please." She said quietly not remembering the address. It was something New York, oh how she should of wrote it down.

10 minutes later the taxi driver pulled up to the airport. "That'll be $17.00." Quickly she paid the man with a quiet thank you. Hopping out of the taxi she grabbed her bags and headed inside. Her plane ticket in hand. Going through security, she rushing to get to her flight gate. She would be riding JetBlue, she'd never been on this type of airplane but was excited to try it out.

With the plane not leaving for a 5 minutes she  plugged in her headphones listening to her playlist.
