As you can probably guess I slept through my detention and slept through till the morning. It’s the best sleep I have had until after the war. Even when I was with Ron I wasn’t able to sleep through the whole night, but somehow being back in Hogwarts made me feel safe and I slept for the whole night and missed my detention with Snape. Oh well, it wasn’t like I was planning on going anyway. If I have my way I’m defiantly not going tonight and no one can make me go.  I got ready and put my clothes and make up on and not forgetting to change the length of my skirt and wearing my green knee high socks and my combat boots which were against the school rules. Heck, I didn’t give a damn about them stupid rules all I need to do here is turn up to lessons and get the grades that I know that I well get and after school is over I will be on my way to the ministry of magic with my job.

I don’t know what made me want to become the ministry of magic’s assistant but I always thought that one day I would become the minister of magic, the first female to become one. Then again with how much the war has corrupted me and how dark I am now I’m guessing it wouldn’t be a very good job for me but I’m quite happy helping the minister which is Kingsley and getting rid of all the dark wizards in this world. I always like Kingsley as well and when I was younger I had a bit of a crush on him. I liked his dark complexion and his strong jaw. I also liked the way he held himself so confident and strong. He always made me feel safe when I was around him and I think that’s what I want. To feel safe again.

After I got ready I looked at the time and realized that I had an hour till the lessons start. I grabbed my bag which had my books and my wand in it and then left the room. Everyone was in the common room and was laughing and messing about, talking about their summer vacation and all the places I went to. When one of the first formers saw me he coughed and directed everyones gazes towards me. The room went uncomfortable and was filled with silence. No one was going to say anything and I was about to head towards the exit when I heard a girl ask

‘What did you do in the summer Hermione? Go anywhere nice?’ the voice would have sounded confident if it wasn’t for the fact that it came out as a whisper.

I turned around and saw a pale girl with shoulder length frizzy brown hair. Her eyes were bright blue almost the same colour as the sky on a sunny day. She was small and was skinny and looked like she could snap if I tried. I was surprised by the confidence she had and that a vulnerable girl would actually talk to me. Maybe someone put her up too it. She could be an undercover spy for the press or something. As you can tell I have trust issues but who could blame me.

‘I did nothing’ I asked with as much venom in my voice as I could muster up so that I wouldn’t have to deal with her again.

To my surprise though she actually smiled and that shocked me. She wasn’t scared of me. It’s safer for me to walk out and ignore her. She’ll get the message soon enough. I walked towards the great hall and was stopped by and small hand wrapping around my wrist. I snapped my body around and smacked the person in the face. I grabbed the arm and ripped it off my own.

‘Don’t ever touch me again. Understand?’ I shouted

I looked down to see who was stupid enough to try that. I saw that it was that same girl that was being nice to me in the common rooms. This girl had guts, I’ll give her that. I saw her nodding and her black hair bouncing up and down around her small body. I started to walk away and avoid the looks I was receiving from the few students who were looking witnessed what I just did.

‘Hermione wait, I just wanted to let you know something.’ A voice said.

I turned around again and saw that girl behind me. She has guts but that doesn’t stop her from being annoying.

‘What? What do you want from me?’ I shouted at her.

‘I just wanted to let you know that if you need anything then I’m always here for you?’ She looked me straight in the eye so I knew she was telling the truth.

‘Why? If I was you I would stay away from me. I’m bad news and you shouldn’t get involved. Do you want me money? Or my fame? If that’s what you want, have it and leave me alone. I’m happy without it.’ I shouted. I could feel the tears started to form in my eyes and I held them back.

‘No no no. It’s nothing like that I promise. I just thought that you needed a friend. I think everyone deserves someone they can talk to and have a laugh with. Plus my uncle spoke really highly of you and what a loyal friend you were.’ She said quickly. I was curious too who her uncle was but decided to leave that to later.

It can’t be that bad too have a friend could it? Looking at her she isn’t going to leave me alone unless I agree. She seems nice enough and I can’t see any lies with what she just told me. She’s confident as well. She makes me curious and I want to know what’s drawing her towards me and how she sees me as a person.

‘Alright, but if I find out that none of what you said was true then that will basically be the end of your life. Got it?’

‘Got it.’ She said with a huge grin plastered over her face. Her eyes had lit up. ‘My uncle is going to be so happy about this. He always talks highly of you and says that you are beautiful which is true. He also said that you have the brightest smile and that it lights up the room when you do smile.’

‘Wait who’s your uncle? Why does he always speak about me?’ I asked cutting her off from her rambling.

‘Oh you’ll see later on. Now let’s get some breakfast, my tummy is growling like am harbouring a monster.’

She then walked away to the great hall. What a strange girl. She hasn’t even told me her name. I went after her realizing that my stomach was craving some food. When I entered I looked down the Slytherin table and I spotted her eating some croissants. I went and sat beside her grabbing some toast on my way down. When she saw me she gulped down food she had in her mouth and grinned at me.

‘I absolutely love croissants. After moving from France I have been craving them.’ She said and took another bite.

‘wait you’re from France?’ I asked curious to why she didn’t sound French at all.

‘Yep I am. I used to go to that stupid all girls school but I had to move here as I got expelled after an incident involving the head girl.’ I looked at her waiting for more ‘It’s a long story. A story I might tell you after I introduce myself. My name is Melody but call me Mel. I used to leave here when I was younger but when I turned eleven my uncle decided that it was best I stayed in france for a ‘better’ education and because he could tell that things wouldn’t be good here. He was right as well. Anyway after my expulsion he said that if I’m going to get in trouble there I might as well do it here, and since he wroks here he could keep an eye on me.’

The first thought that went through my mind was wow, she talks a lot. My second thought was she was a perfect friend for me. We both are attracted to trouble. Well the new Hermione is. My third thought was who her uncle was. He obviously cares for her, and he works here.

‘Hey my uncles coming. Don’t look I want to surprise him.’ She said and looked behind me and smiled.

‘Hello Mel, Who’s your friend?’ I deep voice said. I recognized the voice but it my brain couldn’t put a face to the voice.

I finally gave up and turned around. I looked up so I could see the face but not before seeing the man’s muscles and toned chest which were hiding behind his black shirt. When I reached his face I gasped shocked with what I was seeing and a huge grin took over. I hugged the shocked man and I felt him relax and hug me back with a slight husky chuckle. I finally pulled away from the hug and looked into his grey eyes.

‘Sirius what are you doing here?’ I asked still smiling widely.
