Chapter 3- Friends or More?

Charlie's P.O.V

I had a great time at Hattie's. Filming the video having tea, kissing her... I should ask her round to mine this weekend. Thinking this, I walked into Starbucks™ for a hot chocolate.

Hattie's P.O.V

I was sat drinking my Starbucks™ hot chocolate, thinking about what I good time I'd had with Charlie on tuesday, when my phone rang.

"Hello?" It came out as a question rather than a greeting. I hadn't checked the caller ID.

"Hey babe." Ugh.

"Tyler I'm not your 'babe' anymore!"

"Yeah, yeah. I get it Hattie. You need your space. But I'm gonna keep calling you. Cuz you know, don't want you cheating on me." I stormed outside angrily.

"Tyler, it's not cheating if we're not together."

"But we are together babe!"

"No we're not! I dumped you, remember?" He sighed.

"I thought we were over this! I'm not stalking you just making sure you're ok!"

"Tyler! I'm my own person! I don't need you in my life right now!"

"So we can get back together?"

"No! I've got another boyfriend!"

"What?!?! But Hattie we've got something special! You can't just leave me-"

"Er... Yes I can! You don't own me!"

"Who is he?"

"Charlie McDonnell. He's famous, cute and, unlike some people, not a creepy stalker!" I hung up. Like I said before, ugh!

I heard a cough behind me and turned round. I saw Charlie and ran over to hug him. He hugged me back, before I pulled away.

"How much did you hear of my phone conversation?" I asked quizzically.

"Nothing, I just saw you."

"Ok" I smiled. " I'm just having a hot chocolate, want to join me?"

"Sure."

Charlie's P.O.V

"So Charlie, I, uh, have something to tell you." I raised my eyebrows. "My ex was being really annoying, so I told him I had another boyfriend. He asked who. You were the first guy that popped into my head. I said you. Sorry! It doesn't mean anything-"

"Hattie, it's fine, don't worry about it!"

"Thanks Charlie. You're a really great friend." Ouch, that stung. I smiled but, ugh, I'm a friend. Nothing more, nothing less. But I want to be more. I've never liked a girl this much before and I want her to like me back. She likes me as a person, not because I'm famous. She's funny, clever and completely gorgeous. And I really like her.

Hattie's P.O.V

We finished our hot chocolates and walked in opposite directions. Ugh, Hattie! He's never going to like you as a girl now! If he even liked you the tinest bit before, he's never going to like you now, after telling him he's a friend! I heard footsteps pounding towards me and spin round to see Charlie. I raise an eyebrow.

"Sorry, *puff* meant, *puff* to ask, *puff* you, *puff* want, *puff* come, *puff* over, *puff* Saturday?"

"Sure" I smiled " what time?" He had recovered from his run now and wasn't puffing.

"1ish? We can go out, have tea, stuff like that?"

"Yeah. Now do you want to miss the tube?"

"Oh my... Gotta run! See you Saturday!"

~Friday~

Should text him? Because, I want to know where we're going tomorrow. Yeah I'll text him. I sent this:

Hey ;) just wonderin wat the plan is 4 2moz? Wat shud I wear?

Then I sat by my phone and waited. About five minutes later it went off. It was Charlie:

Goin 2 take u 2 a nice place by the coast n we'll hav fish n chips. Summery clothes as the weather shud b gud n pack a change of clothes.

I smiled and began to pick out my outfit. In the end I picked out a loose summery dress with thin straps. It was white with lots of thin horizontal navy blue stripes. I brought out my navy blue converse and my blue and white spotty flip flops aswell and for my change of clothes was an off the shoulder top and very short denim shorts. My bikini went in too.

~Saturday~

With all the clothes ready from yesterday all packed in my bag I sat and waited for Charlie to come and pick me up.

Charlie's P.O.V

Keep calm Charlie. She's just another person. She's your friend. If you can talk on stage at VidCon then you can talk to her. For the third time I raised my hand to knock and dropped it again. Ugh! Charlie just knock already.

Right this time I will take the plunge.

I knocked.

"Hi!" The door opened and Hattie smiled at me.

"Hey! You ready?" I asked.

"Mm hm." She glanced down at her bag.

"Great! Off to the train station!" I grinned and put my hand out to carry her bag. She smiled at me and told me it was fine as I already had my backpack.

~An hour later~

As soon as Hattie saw the beach she grabbed my hand and ran, dragging me with her, all the way down to the beach. Soon we were laid back on the sand, just talking, our toes in the water.

"So is this like, a date?" She smirked and I felt my face go red.

"Only if you want it to be." I smiled.

"That isn't a proper answer!" She giggled. I smirked and grabbed her hand. She smiled.

Hattie's P.O.V

~Another hour later~

We were sat on the flood barrier eating Mr. Whippy ice creams with flakes. Charlie looked over at my smiling face and laughed.

"What?" I asked.

"You've got ice cream on your nose!" I laughed.

"Getting it all over your face is a sign of enjoyment!"

"Bless." He sighed sarcastically and patted my head.

"Oi!" I shoved him. I laughed but then I got shoved back.

"Aaaahhhhh!" I screamed as I fell off the flood barrier. I was falling when a hand grabbed mine and pulled me up. It was Charlie, who had hung onto a rail and caught me. I smiled at him.

"Thanks." He smiled. I was sat on his lap, him holding me tightly. "I think," I whispered in his ear, "this is the part when the hero kisses his sweetheart." He grinned. And then his lips were pressed to mine. And, do you know what? I kissed back. He whispered to me, those three little words that I longed to hear.

"I love you." Do you know what I said?

"I love you too."
