Dakota's POV
I woke up hearing drums and trumpets in the center of my town and ran out the door still in my pajamas. I saw guys dressed all in white, holding guns. As I got closer to the center I met up with my best friend, Weston, also in his pajamas. When we finally made it to the center of town we were directed by the guys all in white to a long line of people in front of more people sitting at desks in front of books.
When I finally got to the front of the line, a woman took my hand, drew some blood (I mentally winced) and pressed my bleeding finger in the book. Then I was directed by the "gaurds" as I now knew them to be, and walked to where the other girls from my section were standing. A lady walked onto the stage and when everyone was quiet started talking, "Hello section 17, I am from the Hunger Games and am here to collect your two recriuts." She then walked over to a glass box and said "As always, ladies first." She then stuck her hand in and drew out a name. I held my breath as she read the name and said it aloud. "Dakota Mayfeild!! Will be your ladies recruit!" I shakily walked up to the stage to stand next to the lady. "Congratulations Dakota, now the boys." She walked over to the other glass box and drew out another name slip. "Weston Palmer!! Will be your boy recruit!" As I watched in horror Weston walked up to the stage and stood on the other side of the lady. "Congratulations Weston, you have your recruits for section 17 and may the odds be ever in you favor."
Weston and I were then led away by some gaurds to wait for the train to come.
