Chapter Two

Daniel

His heart thumped heavily in his chest. He wanted to be anywhere but here; doing anything but this. “Umm?” She asked, clearly annoyed. “The Dark World needs you,” he replied. “Dark World?” she asked, her voice hitting a high note.

“The society for all vampires, witches, and werewolves?! The same piece-of-crap club that declared me a freak and banned me? What do they need me for?!” She asked, standing over him.

“Do you always like to draw so much attention to yourself?” Daniel curiously asked. He hated the scene she was causing. She took a look at her surroundings before sitting back down, arms crossed over her chest.

“Are you going to let me finish?” He said. She gave him a cold stare. Daniel took it as a yes and swallowed a lump that had formed in his throat. “Every fifty years, the council has to elect a new queen. She’s a vampire High Honor. The time has come to elect a new one, and Iradessa, the queen, wants to see you,” Daniel said.

“Oh really?” she asked. “Why exactly?” “Do they want to ridicule me like they always have? You’re not the first supernatural being to come here,” she said in a cold voice.

“I know and I’m sorry. You’ve got to understand that there are different supernaturals, just as there are humans. There are kind people and there are cruel people,” Daniel explained, starting to loosen up. He was beginning to understand her; she was hurt.

“They didn’t want me all these years. My aunt had to hide me so that I could live. Now all of a sudden they want me?” She questioned. “I know this sounds stupid, but they were scared of you. You’re the first half human, half vampire. The point is, your father is creating more of you. We’ve got to stop him,” Daniel said.

“He’s at it again?” She asked fire raging in her clear blue eyes. “Yes,” he said.

“He’s created more people like me?”

“Yes, and we need you, please,” Daniel begged, he was hoping that he had gotten through to her.

“Look, I would if I could, but I can’t. I have school, my aunt needs me, and so does my best friend. I can’t just leave, plus how do I know this isn’t a trap?” She asked, her mouth popping on the P.

“You’re psychic, right?  Use your powers to see if I’m telling the truth.” Daniel replied, trying to convince her that he wasn’t lying.

“Your vibes are full of positive energy, so is your aura. I trust you-for now,” she replied, being cautious, Daniel observed. Just then the bell rang, signaling the end of lunch.

“Meet me at the edge of the woods, by the park behind the elementary school. I’ll explain everything else,” he said in urgency. “When?” she asked, her eyes trained on the people rushing around their table. “Midnight,” he blurted unthinkingly. She was already gone when he looked up.
