He smiled at the girl. She swooned under his touch. They were sitting in the park bench. It was late afternoon and the sun was starting to set.
“Emma,”he whispered, his voice low and sweet. She murmured something incoherent. Her body was filled the the euphoria of his love.
“I loved you from the beginning. Be mine forever, I promise that I'll protect you with my life. Nothing will harm you.”
She gave a little smile and then his lips met hers. The feel of it was amazing. Soft but firm, she could feel his every movement.
“Jeremy, I love you.”
“Emma, me too.” They both immersed themselves in each other, giving each other the pleasure and happiness. Until a voice interrupted them.
“Emma.”The voice was Jeremy's voice—but rougher...sinister. Emma looked up at her hero. He looked just as confused as she was.
“Emma.”His voice was more insistent. Emma whipped her head around, trying to look for the source of this clone voice.
Emma didn't know what was doing this. But then she—
I felt something slap my face. It was flesh—a hand. The pen and notebook dropped out of my hands as I was nearly thrown off my chair. My view came back into focus. I was in math class. Nobody had noticed me getting slapped. I was out of my Fantasy World and back in my Reality.
I tentatively raised my hand to touch the right cheek—where he had slapped me. Then I looked back up at him. Jeremy Evans.
“Why was I even paired with a freak like you? When I call your name, you focus on me, dumb-ass.” The words were stinging into my heart. This was the hero I had imagined myself with in my Fantasy. But in my Reality? My hero was cruel.
“What were you writing that made you so distracted?” He picked my pink notebook off the ground. I tried to snatch it back, but he pushed me away so forcefully that I almost fell off the chair.
“No! Don't read it!” I almost shouted. He didn't like me, if he read it, would it make him hate me more? I trembled as I watched his eyes scan the page. No, no, no. Don't read it!
A sneer rose on his face as he read it. Then he looked at me, disgust in his eyes, “you'd think I actually like you? Freak.” He ripped out the page and crumpled it up. Then he tossed it in a nearby garbage can. He then pointed at the garbage can.
“That's where your fantasies belong. And it should stay there. Along with you. Someone who sleeps on the streets. I'm asking for another partner. You can't focus on anything. You're a freak.” Jeremy got up and approached the teacher.
Tears blurred my vision. I tried to hold them back, but they started to fall. I wiped my eyes.
Why do you hate me? I wish you would love me.
We had met back at the park about a week ago. He still hadn't forgotten that awkward meeting. And I still didn't forget the growing pain in my heart. And I wasn't trying to sound dramatic. It was just...the truth...?
I looked down at my hands that were clenched together on my lap as the tears started to fall. Holding them back was useless. An'i would be so disappointed.
Crying over a boy? Jeremy again? If his friends call him Jay—Jay-jerk will fit him more!
An'i was my best friend. Unlike me, she was headstrong and smart. Amazing and bright. She didn't imagine fantasies like I did. She told me it was too naive—too hopeful. The world was cruel. A girl like me could definitely use a friend like An'i. She was like a shield. Whenever I was feeling horrible, An'i would save me.
