Chapter 1 - Bambi

Waking up on what would be classified as a normal Friday I was feeling a little happier than usual today, I had this feeling that something amazing was going to happen. Slipping out of my warm bed I walk into my ensuite bathroom and turn on the shower. I step into the shower stall and let the water run over my back as I rest my head on the wall just under the shower head. After just standing there in the spray of the water I lift my head and starting washing up. When I'm finished rinsing all the suds off my body and out of my hair I turn off the shower and open the stall door letting all the steam slip out.

Grabbing a towel off the warming rack I start roughly drying my dripping hair. I walk over to the sink and use the same towel I used to dry my hair to wipe off the perspiration that has settled on the mirror that hangs over the sink. When most of it is cleared off the mirror I can see a pair of grey eyes staring back at me. My dark brown hair is damp and there are a couple strands that hang in my face. I have slight stubble covering my jaw and my tan skin is slightly red from the hot water. I can't help but realize how much I resemble my father except for my eyes and nose, I got those from my mom. As soon as my parents come to mind my mood sours slightly and my eyes water.

I shake my head and continue on with my morning routine by brushing my teeth and lotioning up my body after I grabbed another towel and dried off. Once I'm finished I open the door of my bathroom and walk into my bedroom making a beeline for my dresser. Pulling out a pair of black briefs I slip them on then put on a pair of loose fitting jeans. I don't bother putting a shirt on seeing as everyone is used to seeing each other half naked or even fully nude due to our clothes ripping when we shift. Walking out of my room I'm greeted by a few of my pack members as I pass them. They bow their heads slightly in respect while muttering "Alpha" before going back to what they were doing.

I walk down the stairs and head towards the kitchen where I can smell breakfast cooking, Mmm french toast. Entering through the archway of the kitchen the smell of cinnamon and frosting hits me in the face and it isn't breakfast. It's one of the older women of the pack, Cecilia, she's a small woman in her late 60s with graying brown hair and tan skin with an olive tint. Don't be fooled by her size and age though, Cecilia is no frail elderly woman, she's a feisty Italian lady that will gladly put you in your place if need be. I adore the woman, she's like a grandmother to me.

Currently she is telling everyone how to make this and where to put that. The kitchen is where she takes charge, making sure everything is cooked to perfection. Turning her head she notices me entering her domain and instantly rushes over to give me one of her tight hugs.

"Oh, bambino how did you sleep? Are you hungry? I could make you a plate." She rambles after pulling back.

"Good morning, Nonna. I slept fine, thank you and no you don't have to make me a plate I was just going to grab an apple before heading up to my office." I reply.

"Sciocchezze!" (Nonsense) She says slapping my shoulder lightly. "I will make you a plate and you will eat it all. An apple is not enough bambino and if you are going to be working you need to do it with a full stomach."

Sighing I nod my head knowing I am not going to win this argument. Once Cecilia makes up her mind there is no changing it. She smiles and pats me on the cheek before heading towards the breakfast bar that is covered with plates of various foods so the pack members can choose what they want to eat. She grabs a plate and stacks three pieces of french toast and five pieces of bacon on it before she gestures for me to sit down. Once I am seated at the dining table she places the food in front of me and kisses me on the cheek before going back to her domain.
