-Xander's POV-

It's strange having someone else sleeping beside you after having the other side of your bed empty for so long.

It's definitely not an unpleasant feeling, I mean, ones presence alone is wonderful, let alone if they're willing to be there without you forcing them.

I could feel the heat radiating off of Scott's body even though I was on the other side of the bed, warming my very core. Such a pleasant encounter this was, even though there were no words being spoken, the simple presence of the man was more than delightful for me. It was a rare occasion that someone was comfortable around me, but this was taking it to an entirely new level.

Scott, already asleep beside me underneath the dark grey comforter, breathed softly. The only movement coming from him was the slight rise and fall of his chest and the occasional readjustment of his head or arms. His nose made small sniffling noises as he took in sleepy breaths, occasionally taking in a deep one though his mouth.

I must've been laying there watching him for hours, simply admiring everything from the way he looked to the way his heart beat, because before I knew it, the clock changed to the all too firmallar time of 3:00am.

The man beside me shifted and stirred in his slumber, a small, almost inaudible groan sounding from his semi-parted lips.

I wonder what he's dreaming about...

My heart nearly stopped when Scott shot up from his slumber, chest heaving as he struggled to regain his breath. He was shaking, and I saw the tears falling down his moon illuminated face. After a second, he let out a bit of a choked sob, covering his face in his hands. I quickly sat up the rest of the way from having myself propped on an elbow, pulling a shaking Scott into a comforting imbreae.

It must've caught him off guard, seeing that he tensed and pulled away, teary brown orbs staring into my concern filled hazel ones.
"X-Xan-.." Scott choked out, his arms falling around my neck as he laid his head on my chest. My arms found their way around him, rubbing circles around his back as my body slowly swayed. I didn't know what to make of this, such a delicate moment, yet straining and painful at the same time.

I felt my shirt grow damp as I realized Scott was still crying. I hadn't noticed I was holding my breath until I took in a breath, my aching lungs thanking me as the oxygen flooded into them. My body slowly swayed, pulling Scott closer to my chest as he calmed down, talking in deep breaths.

He pulled away once again, this time I allowed it though. He didn't go very far though, speaking that he was caught in the blanket. His arms dropped down to his sides, one reaching up and wiping the tears from his eyes. "I-I'm really sorry if I w-woke you up.." He breathed, sniffling a bit. I shook my head, brushing the hair from his eyes. "I haven't went to sleep yet, I got caught up in something."

He sighed, falling back down onto his side, facing in the direction I laid down in. "It's a-almost 4:00, y'know.." Scott muttered, tugging the blanket over his body once again. "Mmhn..I know." I stated, ever so carefully pulling Scott over to me. He immediately melted into my chest as I wrapped my arms around his waist, using one hand to rub his back.

This was the sort of thing I missed. Simply holding someone as they fell asleep, listening to the beat of their heart, feeling their breath pat against your chest as they slept. The beauty of seeing someone you hold so dearly wake up beside you...

Before I knew it, sleep was consuming me. Scott had fallen asleep a while ago, still in my arms. The beating of his heart lured me into slumber faster than I'd anticipated it to, making the whole experience that much more enjoyable and delicate. I knew I wouldn't regret falling asleep, the thought of waking up beside the one I lived for made it blissful to say the least.

I'd spend my eternity like this, and God knows I'll savour every minute of it.
