Office Romance

Long Day

Today was a very long day. I had finally gotten home from the office when my phone rang. My first thought was maybe it was him. But it couldn't be. I'm just the mail girl and he's a big CEO. I picked it up without looking at the caller id. "Hello?"
"Hey is this Lori?"
Oh god. It is him. "Yes, hi! I mean hey Erik. How can I help you?" Was that too eager?
"I was just wanting to know if you could come back into the office. There's a matter that I have to discuss."
"Oh. I see. Sure no problem. Be there in 10." I said a little annoyed. I mean considering I had to stay late the last few days, what's one more? Not like I needed sleep anyways. So I drive all the way back to the office. At least there wasn't any traffic. Kinda odd for the city but I'll take it. I walk up the stairs to the top floor. I would take the elevator but it's been broken for about a week now. So I walk 15 flights of stairs. But if it means I get to see Erik again, I don't mind. I finally reach his office at the end of the hallway. It's the biggest one. Not very flashy but nice and practical. "May I come in?" I knock on the door.
"Yes, please do."
I walk in and sit at the chair in front of his large desk. He was writing some paper work and didn't seem to see me sit down. "You needed to speak with me sir?"
"Ah yes. I need to discuss the mail room renovation plans. Did you talk to your coworkers about this?" He said looking up.
"I wasn't aware of any renovations sir. I'm sorry but maybe you told me and I must have forgotten." I say confused. He shakes his head,"Ugg no no, I'm sorry. I completely forgot to let you know. I've just been so busy lately..."
"I understand."
"I'm very sorry to have wasted your time. You can leave now." He says going back to the paperwork.
"Sir, can I give you some advice?" I say just before I leave. "Sure."
"You might want to juggle work and fun a little. Not to be rude but your kind of a workaholic. This is you fifth night here this week. And it's not just me that noticed this. The whole office sees it. I understand that your the CEO but you need to take a break sometimes too." I look at him and wait for a response but get none. I start to walk out the door when, " Lori wait. You're right. I need to learn how to keep balance. The truth is I don't know what to do with this, well crap." He tosses the papers on the desk. " I'm just so stressed out and need a break."
" Then just go home. You don't have to stay tonight. Get some rest. You look like you haven't slept in weeks." I smile and turn to walk out. " Here wait. I'll walk with you." He grabs his coat and closes up his office. "Do you need a ride? I can drive you home if you want." He says as we walk down the stairs. " Oh n-no I'm fine, but thank you sir" I stamper, blushing a little.
" Lori two things. 1) call me Erik. Sir is my father. 2) I insist. You can pick your car up in the morning." He smiles and I can't say no. We get down the stairs and into the parking lot. He opens my door for me and I get in. I tell him where I live and he drives me. We get there fast because there's not much traffic at 1:00am. Before I get out of the car I ask, " Why did you want to drive me home sir- I mean Erik?"
" Well I like you. Your the only person who is willing to drive all the way to work at 12:30am to talk business. Plus the mail room is on the ground floor. Why you always leave from the top floor is well, cute." He says smiling.
I blush. " I didn't know you felt this way."
" I just kinda realized it. Plus your right, I need to juggle work and fun." He looked down at me and bit his lower lip. You know they way a guy does when he want to kiss you but doesn't know if the girl wants is too. " I really should go inside. It late and we need some sleep." I say blushing loudly. " Your right, as usual. I walk you." We get out and walk to my door. I look up at him. " Thanks for driving me home and walking me up." I say nervously. " My pleasure. Thanks for the advice." He smirks. " Well goodnight Erik." I turn to unlock my door when he spins me around and kisses me hard on the lips. I'm surprised but down pull away. Soon my whole world slips away and I melt into it. Before I know it, it's over. I look back up at him, red in the face, my fingers touching my lips were his just where. " Good night Lori. See you at work tomorrow. " The next thing I know I'm in my house with the door closed behind me. Did that really just happen? Did Erik just.....kiss me? What does this mean? I can't even think right now. I try to go to bed but I can't sleep. I just keep thinking about him. Oh god, what have I gotten myself into?!
