The black fades away; and red takes its place. I try to lift my head but I can't find the energy so instead I try to orientate myself by feeling my surroundings. The ground feels bare and hard, I can trace cracks with my fingertips. On my left, there is a cool cylindrical object and the on the right nothing but air and a pool of liquid close to my right hip, my hand flies through the air desperately wanting to latch onto something solid I can feel my strength and energy slowly returning but with it comes immense pain in my head and right thigh.

I muster enough strength to lift my head, the world spins and I'm forced to put my head back down, the blazing red sun taunting me to get up. I hear footsteps crunching on the hard ground and decided my best move is to act unconscious, I can't be killed by any other player in this arena for another day so however it is can't hurt me. They are so close now I can feel their presence, I can tell that they have a big build and muscular legs. The must of crouched down now because I can hear them breathing, short raspy breaths suggesting recent strenuous activity.

"You're protection only lasts for 16 more hours, when that's over, I will kill you and your friend. I was doing so well until you kids showed up, making plays that changed the game. I can't stand it anymore." the figure whispers into my left hear with a husky voice. I try to manipulate my right arm to reach my knife belt, my stomach sinks when I find it to be missing. A foot comes down on my right arm  just below the elbow I grimace in pain.

"Do you hear me?" he says through gritted teeth. I nod my head and he releases his foot.

"See you in 16 hours" he laughs as he walks out of the room, and slams the door.

"Or sooner" I manage, thankfully he doesn't hear.
