Prologue:

Moon shone over the nursery as Wolfheart was about to have her kits. Her mate died a moon ago when he had to fight the Twolegs. The time of the clans were almost over.

Wolfheart pointed to the kit who had golden fur with bright green eyes, “I think I’ll name this one Goldenkit,”Wolfheart meowed to Specklefur, her friend.

Wolfheart pointed to the other kit that was a white tabby she-cat with sapphire eyes. “And this one Rainkit,” Wolfheart meowed.

“They are beautiful kits,” Specklefur meowed.

*A moon later*

“Run!The Twolegs are coming!” Fallingpaw meowed. The time of the clans were over.

“Wait! Where is Leopardspot?!” Wolfheart meowed in a panic. Earlier that morning, Leopardspot was looking for herbs and she found some in a tunnel, but a Twoleg monster knocked over a giant rock. Leopardspot was blocked in.

*2 moons later*

“Mommy, I’m hungry.” Rainkit whined. She nudged her mother, Wolfheart.

“Shush,” Wolfheart nuzzled her kit. “It’s leaf-bare. The prey is scarce. I can’t find any more prey now without leaving you two.” She couldn’t leave her kits alone, she was scared that if they’re left alone. They will be taken away from here. She could not bare the thought of it happening.

“Where’s Fallingpaw?” Goldenkit asked her. Wolfheart flinched. She remember her best friend, Specklefur. A tear streamed down her cheek. The moment Specklefur died when the Twolegs hit her, she asked Wolfheart if she could take care of Fallingpaw but she failed. He disappeared, he has to be dead. There’s no way he could have survived.

“In a good place.” Wolfheart looked up in the blue sky. “He’s up in the StarClan.” Wolfheart meowed. Wolfheart sighed. She wished the Twolegs have never attacked the clans. If they never attacked the clan then her kits would be happier....they wouldn’t be starving, Wolfheart thought.

“Can we go visit him?” Rainkit asked excitedly. Wolfheart face dropped.

“Not now...” Her voice came out in a whisper. “It’s too early for you.” All of the sudden, there was a crashing noise and a yowl. Wolfheart started to panic. She hushed her kits to be quiet. She thought it was a Twoleg, but she was wrong. A young golden spotted she-cat came. It was Leopardspot.

“LEOPARDSPOT?!” I shouted. Leopardspot turned my way.

“Wolfheart?” She meowed softly. Her eyes looked sad but Wolfheart thought it was an act.

“Why is a traitor doing here?” Wolfheart meowed bitterly. “ If you’re here to hurt my kits you are wrong.” Wolfheart threatened. She unsheathe her claws and got ready to attack if necessary.

“Why would I hurt kits, I’m a medicine cat,” Leopardspot hissed.

“You're a traitor. Leaving your clan when we were getting attacked,” Wolfheart spat.

“I WAS GETTING HERBS THAT DAY!!!” Leopardspot screech, “But a Twolegs trapped me in and by the time I got out everyone was gone. I have been wandering around since then trying to find a survivor if there is one.” Leopardspot explained. Wolfheart face dropped, is she really telling the truth? Wolfheart thought. Goldenkit and Rainkit were burning with rage.

“Well,we survived,” Goldenkit snapped. Goldenkit got up from her hiding so did her sister, Rainkit.

“Pipe down,” Wolfheart hissed. “How should I know you aren’t lying to me?” Wolfheart asked.

“Well because I have the scent of herbs on me,” Leopardspot retorted. Wolfheart decided to trust her.

“Fine, whatever, but we need to find shelter and food, the kits are starving,”I meowed. “I’ll hunt,” Leopardspot offered.

“Your a medicine cat,” Wolfheart asked in confusion.

Leopardspot sighed, “Well I learned to hunt since I was by myself for 2 moons since I had nobody else.” Leopardspot  meowed, as she walked away to hunt.

“So Mommy is she a good cat or a bad one?” Goldenkit asked.

“She’s a good cat.” Wolfheart replied. “Now get back in your hiding spot before someone dangerous finds us.” She grabbed her kits by the scruffs and dropped now where they were just hiding.

“Hey I’m back! I was lucky enough to find a rabbit.” Leopardspot called out.

She dropped the rabbit in front of the kits and they started eating like there was no tomorrow, “THANK YOU!” They both meowed simultaneously.

Another scent drifted through the air. A familiar scent. “Fallingpaw!” Wolfheart shouted.

“There’s another scent, Wolfheart! Be careful!” Leopardspot warned. I didn’t listen to her.

“Take care of my kits Leopardspot!”  Wolfheart yelled. Wolfheart ran through the bushes getting closer to the scent.

“WAIT!! Wolfheart!!” Leopardspot meowed. But she didn’t answer back, I promise Specklefur I would protect her kit, and I will, she thought.
