I awoke to the sounds of sirens. The typical night in Kansas. I grabbed my emergance bag and ran down the stairs, and into the basement. I turned the radio on and listened, almost half asleep.
"The national weather service has issued a tornado warning for the following counties in Kansas;"
As usual my county was the only one on that list. Not shortly after the last three beeps of the warning, my mom and dad came down carrying my sleeping sister. I'm pretty sure my six year old sister has grown immune to the sirens. After about fifteen minutes of sitting in the basement the wind started to pick up, and hail started to come. This was the center of the storm. The lights went out, and my
Dad pulled out a lantern. It poured for two minutes before the house shook. When I was younger I was terrified of storms but now they fasinate me. My dream is to one day be a mederologist. Sometimes when it's just me and my dad during a storm, we'll sit out on the porch and watchs wide eyed. After another ten minutes the power came back on and the storm stopped. It was over. I looked at my mom and said, "Mom, we should move, one day our house will come down because of a storm and then we'll all be in trouble."
"Sweety, we'll be just fine here. Don't you worry about a thing!"
Just what a mom would say, after a storm at 12:30 in the morning. I went back to bed wishing I lived in New York. This is my life. My life, in a storm.
Chapter 1
The next day was the first day of school. It was my last year in jounier high, and I was the oldest at school. 9th grade. I wasn't really excited. I had done this for two years already, and every year was the same. The same boys dated the same girls, the teachers were all terrible, and the school play was.... Always awful... The suck-ups got even more sucky, and I was always the person who was in the backround. I'm pretty shy so here is a lost of things I've never done:
Skipped class
Gone to a party
Had my first kiss
Gave a speech in front of people
Raised my hand in class
Sat in front off the class
