There I was standing there. One hand on the mouse, the other on the keyboard. I was surrounded by the hum of the computers and the flash of LEDs. I keyed in the last few commands into the code. It was ready but it needed one thing: the algorithm. I picked up the phone and called my friend Brandon. You see Brandon was the only one that understood what I was doing. He was really my only friend.
"Brandon, its Luke."
"Well well look whose finally come back to the world." I remembered  I hadn't seen or talked to another human being for over 3 months. This obviously took its toll on my social life.
"I've finally got to that stage. Is it complete?" I asked quite quietly, in fear of being heard.
"Yeah, are you sure you want to do this,  what you are about to do could be really good or devastatingly wrong?"
" I know but this has been 3 years of my life! I've missed out on education and family events. I missed both my birthday and Christmas for this. I'm not stopping now!"
"I have my doubts about making it internet liked. What if it see's things like war?" Brandon asked, sowing the seeds of doubt in my heart for first time. What if it does go wrong, what if it does become dangerous? For the first time in three years I doubted what I was doing.
"Just promise me one thing," I said "whatever happens, promise you will stay with me all the way."
"Don't worry, I won't desert you," He promised.
"Just send me the file and let's be done with it." I told him hastily. I then heard a satisfying noise as my computer received Brandon's email with the file attached. The file was the most important part of alpha; it was the algorithm that processed the situation to create the best action to do to make sure that humanity stays happy and in harmony. Within a few minutes, I had installed it in to alpha. Now was time that I had been waiting for. My 3 years of work was about to be summarised at the push of a button. My life had lived for this, it was know or never. I started up the program and waited. It felt like the longest few seconds of my life. I waited and waited. Then the computer blipped. Two blue circles appeared on the screen. They then merged in to one big pulsing circle. It was beautiful but did it work. "Hello alpha," I waited for a response. But it didn't come. As I turned away in immense disappointment I heard something. It sounded like.....
"Hello... Luke."
