Pain.
It was something I've never felt before due to the luxury of being a spirit. Sometimes when I would watch the humans from above, I would wonder how it would feel to get a paper cut or to skin your knees. Now, I wished I would never have to feel it again.
My arms and legs felt heavy and I knew without looking that I was covered in bruises. I tried to lift my head from the uncomfortable position it was in, but a sharp pain in my neck caused me to grind my teeth. The white translucent dress I had been wearing was shredded and my bare feet were covered in dirt.
"Why me?" I croaked out. The soft chirping of crickets was the only thing that answered me. I groaned and tenderly placed my scratched palm under one of my aching wings.
I barely stifled a cry as I felt the tiny bones that were now fractured under the pearly white feathers.
Every angel had their own special ability that set them aside from everyone else. Some angels had abilities that were insignificant, like being able to cook food with just a touch of their finger tips. Others could shape shift into anything they wished, or be able to read both human and angels' minds alike.
I was part of the more important talents because I had the ability of healing.
Healing didn't exactly come in handy in Heaven, but everyone always planned that when I was older I would be sent to Earth to heal humans.
Unfortunately, that plan was ruined because I was now banished to Earth instead of just visiting it.
Within an hour, my body was restored to almost normal just by hovering my fingertips over my cuts and bruises. The only thing that stood out now was my torn dress and bare feet.
Oh and the wings that sprouted out from between my shoulder blades.
I slowly stood up from the damp grass I was laying in. I shook out my dirtied dress and carefully tried to make my way out of the brightly lit forest. My body still felt sore, but I wasn't in as much pain as I had been before.
"Now to find civilization..." I sighed to myself. The thick vines made it hard for me to walk five feet without tripping to my knees.
Normally I would spread my wings out and fly upwards to see exactly where I was, but I'm not exactly sure that the humans would be very accepting of that.
After stumbling along the overgrown path for a good hour, I finally couldn't take it anymore. I sank to my knees in despair as reality dawned on me.
I was a fallen angel.
Out of all the angels, I was the one sent down to Earth. I didn't even have the slightest idea of how humans lived or whether or not they would accept me as one of their own.
After all, it's not like I even look like them. My flawlessly pale skin, unnaturally silky hair, and large crystal colored eyes bordered almost doll like. I could never fit in with them, especially because of my wings.
And Grayson. I know he's worried sick about me now. He was my closest friend and I loved him more than anything. Although angels don't have parents or siblings, he adopted me as his non-blood little sister. He wouldn't be able to find me until groups of angels were allowed to visit.
I sighed and ran my fingers over the soft, downy feathers on my wings before folding them as close to my back as I could so they could fit inside my dress. It was uncomfortable and made my shoulders feel heavy, but I couldn't risk anyone seeing my precious wings.
Before I could convince myself to do anything unreasonable, I curled up with my head resting on my arms and tried to reassure myself.
Everything will be okay. It's just a bad dream. When you wake up you'll be in your bed that felt like clouds. Everything will be fine.
