I got ready for my official date with Jake. I was excited and nervous at the same time. When I got to the movies with him, Javier and Josie were there. Together. I let Jake walk to the cashier and gave him 10 bucks for me. I walked over to Josie and nudged her on the shoulder. "Hey what are you doing here?" I said acting surprised.

"Oh! Hey Sam! Javier and I are seeing a movie." she fully turned to me and gave me a slight wink, with a face that said: I'll tell you later.

"Well, I'll let you two alone."

I walked over to Jake and grabbed stuff out of his hands, which also included my 10 bucks. "You suck!" I said with laughter. We walked into the the theater, and snagged seats at the back. The exact place from our first "friend date". Turns out Josie and Javier picked the same movie. They sat a couple rows in front of us. I tried paying attention to the movie but couldn't when Javier went in for a kiss with Josie. She picked up her soda and drank half of it in one gulp. After the movie ended, Jake gave me a kiss and we walked out. "This was really fun," he said smiling.

"Yeah it was," I said flashing him a smile. Javier walked to his car after saying bye to Josie. Josie went to her car and caught my glance. She took out her phone and text me she would call me later. Jake and I sat on the bench nearby and waited for his mom. He grabbed my hand and there it laid limply. When his mom got there, I started to pull my hand away, but he tightened his grip. I looked up at him and he jumped in the car, yanking me in. He held my hand the entire time. I could feel something was wrong. I looked up at him, and saw a tear shed down his face as he looked out the window. I didn't want to ask in front of his mom, so I kept it to myself. When he walked me to the door he handed me his phone. "Um what do I do with this?"

"Look at the texts," he said, not looking at me. I looked down and saw the texts from Javier.

"Jake, I don't care. I pick you. Not him. He is a jerk."

"Really?"

"Yes, always." I said.

"Good," he said pulling me in for a hug.

He smiled and walked back to his car. I opened the door, when my phone rang. "Hello?"

"Hey Sam,"

"What's up?"

"We need to talk," she said quietly.

"About what?"

Silence.

"Josie?"

The doorbell rang and I turned around to open it. There stood a red-eyed, pink nose, slouching Josie. I pulled on her arm and walked her inside. "Josie what's wrong?"

"I-I, Javier asked me out. Again,"

"Okay. And?" I said slightly confused.

"I said yes."

**Josie's POV**

I looked up at Sam and saw her expressionless face. "Sam?"

"Josie!" she said laughing.

"What?"

"You don't have to be sorry or anything! I really don't care. You are my best friend, you can date whoever you want! As long as I am not currently dating them," she said. I hugged her and laughed wiping the tears from my face. I was so glad she was okay with it. More like excited. I knew we probably couldn't have double dates or whatever. But I was gald she was okay with it. So glad. When I left, I called Javier and told him everything.

"You talked to Sam?"

"Yeah," I said.

"So you're saying, if she would be mad at you, you wouldn't date me?"

"Well, Javier she is my best friend. I didn't want to hurt her. I would feel bad."

"I can't believe you," he said.

"Javier calm down. I wouldn't have broken up with you. I would've had to convince Sam," I said.

"Fine. I'll text you later," he said hanging up. Alright, fine.

**Sam's POV**

Honestly, I was kind of upset that Javier was now dating Josie. but I didn't mind. It was true, she could date whoever she wanted to. She knew what Javier did to me, and if she didn't mind that, that might happen to her, she could date him if she wanted to. I decided to call Jake and tell him the news. Not that it's any news. "Hello?"

"Hey Jake!"

"Hey what's up?"

"Nothing much. It's just," I sighed.

"Sam."

"Javier and Josie are dating now," I said letting out a huge breath.

"What?! She is your freaking best friend! And he is your worst ex! Those two do not go together."

"She can date whoever she wants, I just let her know that Javier broke my heart and would probably do the same thing to her. I guess the real only thing that bothers me, is that she's going to get the same treatment from Javier that I used to have."

"That's completely natural."

"I know."

"I have to go Sam. Please text me if you to talk to someone."

"Trust me, I will."

We hung up and I walked into my bedroom sitting on the edge of my bed. I wasn't upset at all. It was hard to explain. It was all just so complicated. When I went to bed I realized I forgot to tell Megan about Josie and Javier. I would just tell her tomorrow.

**NEXT DAY**

Turns out Josie told Megan. Before me. Of course. Megan was just as upset as Jake was. Megan came over with a smiling Josie. "What are you two smiling about?"

"I broke up with Javier," Josie said smiling.

"Then why are you smiling?"

"Because I thought about you and Javier. And I realized that he broke heart, and you didn't deserve that. Plus. You're my best friend."

I stepped closer to Josie. I gave her a hug.

"Thanks," I said stepping away. They walked away, back to Josie's house and I went into the kitchen, and made me some lunch. I missed Amerah a lot. She was one I could joke around with and At least she would listen to me. But I knew another person that I could call. I speed dialed my best older friend. She was 19.

"Sam? What's wrong?"

"Charlotte. Can you come over? There is so much going on and I need someone to talk to that isn't in this big mess with me."

"I'll be over in 10 minutes. I'm going to Starbucks and buying you your favorite," she said laughing.

I smiled to myself. We hung up and I waited for her. I had a lot to say in the past couple of weeks.
