Underneath the Weeping Willow Tree

Prologue

The Elven Knight

This makes six.

It wasn’t supposed to be both of the twins, the one just got in the way; it was her fault that she died.

The one almost got away but he got her, just like all the others.

He shall be done soon.

What if they find them?

The grave of all six.

All he needed was one more.

Lucky number seven.

He didn’t know when, the twin’s deaths needs to blow over.

Five years at least.

Then it will be done and he can rest.

Then he can return to his realm.

To his Queen.

Seven is all the Elven Knight needed.

One for each day of the week.

Seven maidens by the sea, underneath the weeping willow tree.

His exile will finally be over after all of these years.

But – what about the song that the wise man played so many years ago?

He only gave the Elven Knight half; he would not reveal the Knight’s fate.

That cruel old man!

So long ago, how did it go?

There was a youth, a cruel youth,

Who lived beside the sea,

Six little maidens he drowned there

By the lonely willow tree.

As he walked o'er with Sally Brown,

As he walked o'er with she,

And evil thought came to him there,

By the lonely willow tree.

O turn you back to the water's side,

And face the willow tree,

Six little maidens I've drowned here,

And you the seventh shall be.

Soon. The Elven knight thought. And all will be done…
