My mum hugged me and started rocking me. Another day had started. I was a 21 year old blind girl living with my parents. My depression started taking its toll on me. The blackness was now a part of my existence, a void I was trapped in forever. I remembered my last day with my sight with crystal clarity.

I had gone to the spring fair with Sara, my closest friend on my 19th birthday. I'd dragged her to the Ferris wheel with me. The guilt came again. At first we were enjoying the feeling of being on top and then suddenly we were tumbling and screaming and falling...

They said it was a freak accident and there was only one casualty. Not me, Sara, but not me. They said my eyes were damaged forever from the shock. They didn't know that my heart was damaged along with my eyes.
