I jerked awake and shot up in my bed, breathing hard. It took me a minute to realize that it was all just a dream. I had once again had the dream that I always had, the dream that seemed to taunt me about my true feelings for my best friend.

I sighed as I knew that rationally I should be disgusted by the dream I just had. But I wasn't.

In fact, it made my stomach flip-flop with butterflies. The kind of butterflies that a girl would normally get around the guy she loves.

Once again I realized that I, Selene Adams, was in love with my best friend Chase as more than just a friend.

His perfect blue eyes with the to-die-for smile and the amazingly sweet and easygoing personality made him every girls dream guy. Most importantly, it all made him MY dream guy.

Unfortunately, this left me in a super cliched situation. I was in love with my best-friend, just like thousands of other girls. It didn't help that he had every quality that I would like in a guy. Of course, that's also why he was my best friend. Not only was he caring and sweet, but he had the looks too.

He had bright, blue eyes that would shine when he was happy. His smile consisted of almost perfect, pearly white teeth, while his blonde hair always looked like it was perfect and made girls want to run their hands through it.

And his body was beyond perfect. Not only was he muscular and toned in all the right places, but he was much taller than my 5'7 height, standing at 6 ft. Since I was pretty tall myself, Chase made me feel like I was tiny, a feeling that any tall girl loves.

My favorite thing of all though was how he wasn't a man whore. Yes he never lacked the company of girls, and was constantly dating them here and there, but he never treated them in a way which would mean disrespecting them, even though girls never denied him anything. I would give the credit for that to his mom, Judy for raising him all on her own when his dad walked out on them.

He obviously had his flaws too, as anyone else. But he was perfect, at least for me. Sadly, I felt that my far-fetched dream would never come true. Although he had told me he loved me, I knew it wasn't in the way I wanted him to love me.

Lost in my thoughts, I randomly glanced at the clock and jumped out of bed. I was going to be late for school just sitting here. I ran to my bathroom to get dressed whilst grabbing my clothes. Once dressed in my favorite black jeans and a maroon V-neck, I looked over myself.

Although I wasn't extra-ordinary looking, I wasn't hideous either. My brown hair was naturally straight and hung past my shoulders while my eyes were dark brown and wide, and one of my favorite features. Right now, they looked like an even darker shade of brown because of the slight eye liner I had put on. Satisfied with how I looked, I quickly grabbed my bag and walked out into the hall.

A quick glance in my mom's room told me what I already suspected. She hadn't come home during the night, and even if she had, she hadn't stayed. Even though I should be used to it by now, I still felt a slight pang of hurt. Ignoring it I walked downstairs and grabbed a bowl to make myself cereal.

Whilst I was deciding on what to eat, a slight knock on the door made me smile. I briskly walked up to the door and opened it, ready to finally see him.

"Mornin' Sleeping Beauty," Chase said as my eyes met his sparkling blue ones.

My heart instantly went into overdrive just looking at him. I mentally kicked myself for my crazy reaction to him. "Hey Chase," I said smiling back at him as I opened the door wider to let him walk in.
