Freedom from Myself: A Percy Jackson Fanfic

Chapter One

Disclaimer: I don't own Percy Jackson, but I do own the plot and the new characters.

My name is Nina. Miss Nina Sigly to be exact, but you can call me Nina. The last week of my 8th grade year was the worst in my life. First, it was that annoying boy, Xeno, trying to corner me in the hallway. Then, it was my best friend, Steph, leaving early for summer camp. All of this was well and good, but the final straw was moving. Moving! My adoptive parents decided to move! They said I had two choices, move to Massachusets, or find a different foster family. After sleeplessly lying in bed that night, I decided on option three, the only way to cope with all of this. I followed Steph to summer camp. Only later would I realize I had made a fatal choice. But there was one problem. I didn't know where she had gone! So, obsessed with my problem, I daydreamed down the hallway, letting my stupid brain get me kidnapped! Xeno had finally managed to corner me. 

"Tell me the answers to a few questions of mine, and I will answer yours," he said.

I replied that I didn't have any questions, so this was not a fair trade, and he ignored it!

"Why did you spend so much time with Steph?" He pressed, "It's so hard to protect her with you around."

I struggled, but he wouldn't let go. Then I tried a tactic that I had use as a joke on many boys in the grade. I smiled, made my brilliant green eyes sparkle, and complimented his strength, and giggled as I watched him lose control. He relaxe his grip on my arms and I flipped my wavy black hair and brushed off my porcelain skin. He stared at me, and I smirked. Then, as I tried to leave for class, Xeno grabbed my wrists and held them behind my back. He took some duct tape and put it over my mouth and around my hands. Then, he whispered in my ear.

"Nice try. Come on," and dragged me out the nearest door.
