A/N: For the record, this has been in my drafts for a long time. I'm only updating the chapters I have saved (Ch. 1-11) since I haven't been writing. I don't have much motivation to continue this... but we will see. Sorry in advance.

❀ Chapter Seven ❀

It didn't take very long to spot the other three. You just had to look for Vinnie's bright blue hair and lots of leather. Also, Jesse seemed to spot us before we found them, so the blue hair was sort of pointless in the end.

"There they are!" I heard him shout, and I turned around to find them strolling nonchalantly towards us. I took a cautious step away from Phil to widen the distance between us and waved meekly at the brunette.

"Hello," I said shyly, praying he wouldn't pry Phil and I with questions. Jesse looked at me inquisitively for a split second, mulling me over, as if he was trying to read me, but he didn't say anything. He turned to Phil.

"Where were you guys?" Jesse planted his hands on his hips sassily, shifting his weight to one side.

Phil narrowed his eyes and glared. "We got lost," He fired back, lying on the spot.

"Well, aren't we touchy!" Jesse poked him on the nose and grinned. Phil didn't spare a look at me and brushed by Jesse, walking forwards.

"Where's the field again?" He asked, back still turned to me. He seemed to be searching for a path.

"Down that way," Nolan pointed to a trail with some steps. I trailed behind the four friends, biting my lip nervously and sneaking looks at Phil. My eyes subconsciously travelled down his body and I blinked, forcing myself to look away before I got too far down. I clenched my fists and continued to follow behind silently.

The field was relatively empty, as school and work was commencing for all of the city. Nevertheless, a few moms with toddlers and joggers were scattered about the vast plain. It was hilly, with a tiny lake in one corner and surrounded by thirty-meter trees and a dusty road.

I followed as the boys trudged up the hill, stopping at the top. They plopped down in a sloppy excuse for a line, resting back on their palms or elbows. I sat on the edge, curling up into a ball and resting my chin on my jeans.

"So what do we do now?" I asked happily.

"Sit here," Phil responded. "Enjoy the quiet, which you seem to be destroying."

I bit my quivering lip and refused to speak another word.

"Jesus, Phil, why are you so harsh all the time?" Vinnie deadpanned. "Pull the stick out of your ass and lighten up, would'ja?"

Phil sent a white-hot glare his way and Vinnie matched the peeved expression with a look with the same amount of intensity. They competed in a staring contest before Phil sighed exasperatedly, rolled his eyes, and looked away.

"Well... first order of business," Jesse butted in, bubbly as per usual. "Dan, you need to turn us in."

The other three - and myself, I admit - all whipped our heads around to stare at him in shock. "What?!" We chorused, not quite sure if he was being serious. With one look, I could tell he was.

"Jesse, are you insane?" Nolan said hysterically, eyebrows shooting up with confusion.

"This isn't our first offense. We'll get expelled!" Vinnie added in.

"Guys, I've been thinking about it, and it's not Dan's fault he's been dragged into our mess!" Jesse argued. "We're at fault here, and he shouldn't be forced to take the blame because someone-," Jesse took this as the chance to glare at Phil, "-likes to mercilessly threaten people and scare them out of their wits."
