Fuck. Fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck, this can NOT be happening right now. I whipped the covers off my bed and tossed my pillows to the ground, but my bed was empty except for the sheets. I lost it; I can’t believe I lost it.
“Oh shit…” I mumble to myself, running a hand through my long hair.
“What’s wrong— whoa.” Louis stops and does a double take at our bedroom. “Are we redecorating, love?”
“Uh, no. I was just making the bed.” I lied, tossing the pillows back on the bed. I could possibly tell him that I lost the promise ring he got me.
“Well, if we get back into bed, then you won’t have to make it.” Louis hints coyly with raised brows. I roll my eyes at him and toss a pillow at him which he skillfully dodges.
“You wish, Boo. You have to go to the studio today.”
“Fine, but when I get back, its movie night right?” Louis says, putting down his cup of tea and wrapping his arms around me.
“Yep, just you and me.” I confirmed, giving him a kiss. “Now get out of here and go to the studio!”
I say, giving his bum a good slap. Louis yelps a little and grabs his cup of tea before retreating out of the bedroom. “My bums not insured, Babe!”
I laugh at this and wait until I hear the front door click before turning our flat over, trying to find that promise ring.
“Where the hell could I have put it?!” I mumbled to myself as I practically flipped the couch over. We were still young so marriage wasn’t quite in our sights yet, but Louis had given me a promise ring, saying that it’s a symbol of our love. And I went and freaking lost it, I lost our symbol of love. Aren’t I the greatest girlfriend?
After rummaging our flat inside out I finally gave up. I felt awful, the ring was really important to me, but I was still careless and lost it. Worse of all, I didn’t know how I was going to tell Louis. I could still remember his face when he gave me the ring, that look of hope and love. I bit my lip, trying not to let the tears out.
“Babe, are you crying?” Louis questions as he arrives home after a day at the studio.
“No…” I mumble but Louis turns me around and his blue eyes weren’t humourous. They look concerned. “Yeah..”
“What’s wrong?” Louis questions softly, petting my hair and holding me close.
“I lost the promise ring, I’m sorry Louis. The ring meant a lot to me but I was careless and misplaced it. I’m the worst, Louis.” I admit and Louis stops petting my hair. There’s silence then I feel Louis shaking which makes me feel guilty. I didn’t think he’d be this emotional.
“Louis…” I look up to see that he has one hand clamped over his mouth; his face red and his eyes laughing. “…are you..laughing?!”
Finally he couldn’t hold it back and doubles over laughing. “Hahaha, Babe hahahaha, you didn’t hahaha.”
“Louis, I’m here crying and feeling like shit and you’re laughing?”
Louis continues to laugh and then he reaches into his pocket and pulls out a silver ring. “Babe, I found this in the kitchen this morning next to my Yorkshire tea.”
“You mean…” I hesitated, staring at Louis. “…you had the ring this entire time?”
“Yeah, pretty much.” Louis says, taking a deep breath. “I can’t believe you thought you lost it.”
“I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU!!” I yell, taking a pillow from our couch and smacking Louis with it.
“Wait! Babe!!” Louis screams, running away from me, but still laughing. “I didn’t--
“I THOUGHT I LOST IT AND I WAS SO FUCKING WORRIED!!” I chucked the pillow at him and then continued to chase after him as he screamed and ran around our flat. But I was glad that I didn’t actually lose the ring. This ring means a lot to me, it represented my relationship with Louis and I didn’t want to ever lose that. I don’t ever want to lose Louis.
