Here, in the small but growing town of Mason, Michigan, is where my story begins. A mild winter was present, it was December 9th and 60 degrees, and a light breeze floated through the air. And I, I stared out the window of my English class, wishing I could be outside, enjoying the nice weather.
"Madeline, would you read us the next paragraph?" Blushing, I turned back to my English book.
"Excuse me, Mr. Lyons, but would you please remind me of where we were?"
"Yes, Madeline, but next time you'll have to figure out for yourself." Mr. Lyons was gay even though he didn't think anyone knew.
"The third paragraph on page 123," he said aloud.
"Yes, alright, The girl picked up the small jewel, encrusted
with..."This was going to be a long week.
It was Monday of course. Tommorow the new student the principal had constantly been talking about, Gabriel, would arrive. Of course, being the teachers- or, Principal's pet, he had given him all the same classes as her, and he also expected her to show him around.
"Thank you, Madeline," the teacher said. "Thank you, Madeline," the class repeated.
I fiddled with my black pixie cut, which stood out against my pale skin and red lips.
All I can do now is hope for the best. And hope upon Gabriel Peters.
