Happy that my final lesson for the day was over I walked down the stairs as quickly as I could without running. After I unlocked my bike I was already on my way to the Kindergarten to get my son. He knew exactly when I was coming to get him Wednesdays because he was the first to be picked up. He is a smart little cookie. When I arrived there was quite a big crowd of photographers on the other side of the street. Wondering why that could be I walked to the front door. I was greeted by Anna, one of the Kindergarteners and a friend. "Hi Hanna, you won't believe who is here today!" She greeted me looking very excited and nervous. What was going on here? "Why? Who's here? I just wanted to pick up George real quick. I got a lot of Uni stuff to do." , "One Direction." What? "What's with them?" I knew she liked their music, what I didn't get was why she was telling me. "They're here. Today, right now!" No... Oh God, please no. "Liam hasn't left Georges side since they arrived. It is sickeningly cute." She grinned not noticing ,y inner freak out. Why? Why was he here? Did he know? That was the one question I was asking myself the loudest. Did Liam Payne know that George is his son? I hoped he didn't. I decided I was going to get George as quickly as possible, not talk to any of them and then just leave. That would be the best. I walked straight to the door that led to the children's play are where I knew George was going to be. That's where he always was on Wednesdays. I walked in, greeted everyone I knew and tried to find George. Another Kindergartener, Sarah, smiled at me and subtly pointed me to the right where I not only saw George play on the ground but also the person where he got most of his looks from, although you couldn't really see it yet. I had seen some of his fathers childhood pictures and there was no mistaking that George was his son. he looked exactly the same, except the eyes. Those were as green and sprinkled with colour as mine. It was weird seeing them play and be together in reality. I had wondered about it once or twice but never thought it would actually happen. Before I could take another step in their direction George lifted his head and saw me instantly. He jumped up shouting 'mummy' as loud as he could and ran towards me as fast as he could with his short little legs. I caught him when he jumped at me and managed not to fall over backwards. I didn't dare take a look at Liam's face, I didn't want to see his reaction. I wasn't even sure he remembered me, it had been four years ago and a very brief period of time after all. "Hey pumpkin, how was your day so far?" I asked bouncing him on my hip a little. If I managed to get out of the front door before Liam started coming after me I had a chance of never seeing him again. Maybe. So I turned around quickly and made my way towards the door. I was already in the cloakroom to get George's shoes and coat when I heard the door I had just come through open again. "Wait, please." Liam. Crap. I quickly grabbed George's stuff and made my way through the other door back to the hallway where I had come from to get George. "Hanna, we need to talk." So he did remember my name. "I don't have time, sorry." I sat George down reluctantly because that meant that Liam was sure to catch up to me. But I had to put George into his shoes and coat, it was too cold outside not to. "Ma, what we have lunch?" George asked not noticing how I tried to get his shoes on his feet. At least he wasn't struggling as he normally did. "Anything you want pumpkin. Anything you want." I was just about to put his right arm through the right sleeve of his warm winter coat when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I shot up, grabbing George and his winter coat at the same time I took a step back. George was getting heavy but I was still able to lift him without major trouble although it was noticeable. "Hanna, I-", "Hanna, don't forget George's backpack." Anna reminded me walking towards me with George's little backpack in her hands. I grabbed it from her and turned around while saying "Thanks Anna, I'll be off then. Goodbye. I'll see you tomorrow. Say goodbye, George." George waved and mumbled a little 'bye' while he looked behind me as I left the building. I hope I'll never have to go through that again.
The rest of the day was spent wondering if it had really happened and what I was gonna do. Hoping that Liam wouldn't be there the next day, which I highly doubted. He was busy, that was what had started and ended everything quite quickly in the first place. That night was the worst night since after George had finally started to sleep through the night.
