The van came to a quick stop and so did my heart. We arrived to where ever we were going. My face turned more pale than a ghost's when those double doors flew open. Tanner hugged me so tight I felt like exploding. "It will be okay," I whispered to reassure him and it seemed to help when he loosened his grip on my abdomen.
"Come on move," one of the guys yelled at us while pulling us out one by one at gunpoint. We did what we were told. Two women getting out of the other van tried to make a run for it into the woods but were shot four feet from where they started. Tanner flinched at the sound and sight.
"It's gonna be okay, Tanner calm down. Just breath." I grabbed his hand as we were being pushed into a small sized factory. It was run down and abandon. The walls were covered in grease and rust and it smelt like gas and fire. There were trees all around us so it went pretty unnoticeable. They moved us into a dark room and closed to loud heavy door closed. A couple men tried to use their bodies as a way to break threw, but nothing seemed to work the door was to thick to break threw. Tanner cuddled up close to me and started to cry. I just held him and muffled his whimpers.
As Tanner cries a tall boy about my age comes over and hugs Tanner and hands him a compass. Tanner looks up wiping his tears and says, "What is this for?"
The boy replies, "My mother gave it to me before she died when I was six. She said to hold on to it and whenever I was scared look at it and think happy thoughts. It always seemed to help because with the compass i know no mater where I am I can always find my way home."
"Can I keep it?"
"I think you need it more than me," he said with a smile.
"Thank you, my name is Tanner and this is my sister Kylie," Tanner motions to me.
The boy looks at me and his eyes widen and just stares at me. I tuck my hair behind my ear and look down. "Oh, um, sorry," he clears his throat. "I'm Daniel," he says with a smile still looking at me.
"Let me go!" I hear a girls voice through the other side of the wall. "Let me go or you'll regret it," she growls as a man shoves her into the room. The petite girl slips away and reaches for the door but he grabs her and hits her so hard she falls to the ground. Daniel and I run over to her and help her up.
"Are you okay," I ask leading over to where we were sitting.
"I'm fine thanks."
"That man had no right to hit you like that," Daniel spoke with taut.
"I'm fine really."
"What's your name," I ask her.
"I'm Dakota. Who are you guys?"
"My name is Kylie and this is Daniel and my little brother Tanner."
"Nice to meet you all."
"So where are you from?"
"Are you seriously trying to make small talk" I ask Dakota. She was pretty with long, dark brown hair and blue strips in it. She had brown eyes and medium toned skin. She had a bit of a lisp, but not bad enough it was noticeable.
"Yeah, why not it's not like we are going anywhere."
"I guess. I moved to Las Angeles from Austin, Texas for my dad's new promotion."
"That's a long way from there to hear. Did you drive," Daniel asks me.
"Yeah. Well no my dad did. I can't drive I don't even have my permit. I'd probably wreck us. Well not that I'd be a bad driver. I'll probably be an awesome driver. Okay not awesome more like average, but I'll stop talking before I embarrass myself even more." I feel my cheeks heating up so I look down. Even though I couldn't see him I just new he was looking at me.
"Okaaay. Anyways, listen close we need to find a way out," Dakota said quietly.
"How," I asked as I lifted up my head.
"Yeah, she's right we need to find a way to get out of here," Daniel replies.
"Okay so whats your plan?"
