Deep in the village of Ding Dong, there was a little house which Dave, a boy of eleven called home. Ding Dong was a little village, very
welcoming to visitors and is a nice place to live, in peace and solitude. But in the afternoon the solitude is broken by cars and carts, children
and having fun.
Dave was in his house, sitting a small couch in his room. His mud block house (eco-friendly) stood with a crowd of other houses on a street.
He was reading a book, his green eyes moving left to right, shoes tapping impatiently on the ground. He was waiting for his breakfast.
His mum came with a plate of dosa in her hands. "Dosa again, ma??" exclaimed Dave in disgust.
His mum wore a yellow sari with her hair tied in a bun and a blue pin sticking out of it. Her blue eyes gleamed in the sunshine.
Dave ate fast and was soon walking to school, thinking "all I want is a dog. If I had one I'll do anything for mum. But she just won't agree."
Dave's school was an ordinary school called Ding Dong Academy. Though Dave did not like school, or the time there, he went
.
Dave was mostly happy, but inside he felt kind of lonely and sad. This was because he didn't have any friends exceptMrs. Boggles the pet store owner.
But Dave could not play with her because she was very busy and already very old and ancient.
On Dave's way to school was Mrs.Boggle's pet store. There she had cats, dogs, rabbits, birds, fish and all their needs. Dave admired all the
animals but none he thought was perfet for him.
Mrs. Boggles was a slightly plump woman who wore a green sari along with a red sweater. By her side was always a well polished walking
stick with a rubber shoe. Thick round glasses sat on her long pointy nose. Her favorite food was jelly. She walked a bit like jelly, she was a bit
like jelly and her brains were all jelly. Jelly, jelly, jelly.
