One day when Dave was walking back home he met the last people he wanted to meet. The mean gang. There was Code a girl one grade

higher than Dave with long blonde hair and mean black eyes. Then there was Oct, Let and Jim the triplets who didn't look alike except for their
noses. Oct had brown eyes and a bald head, Let had green eyes and spiky hair and Jim had grey eyes and short hair. They all had uniform

clothes to represent they were a gang. Code was boss so every thing was done her way. Anyone who passes by they tease, steal, or be rude.

Some kids run in fright but most like Dave talk back. Almost all adults are kind to them or ignore/scold. The mean gang were the meanest

people on earth.

When Dave passed by, Code said in her meanest voice "hey chew stick where are you off to?" Jim, Oct, and Let burst of

laughing. Dave tried to ignore them but couldn't help saying "what are you then, a bunch of nuggets?" and walked off. Oct, Let, Jim made faces
at Dave while Code muttered "what a sissy" to herself.

The following morning in school Dave was still thinking about getting a dog. He got a bit of hope, because it was his birthday in three weeks.

But he didn't know what dog to choose, if he was ever getting one. Meanwhile his mum and Mrs. Boggles were talking a walk together. Mrs.

Boggles was saying "when should it come?""On Dave's birthday" came Dave's mum's reply. All Dave's mum wanted was him (Dave) to be

happy. Mrs. Boggles was as clueless as Dave if he had known what the mysterious "it" was. Should I tell you what the mysterious "it" is? No I'd

rather not, let it be a surprise for you too J Two weeks later at the breakfast table Dave was having his breakfast. "One more week for my

birthday ma" Dave said hopefully trying to get into the topic of his birthday present. "Yup" she replied. "Your going to turn twelve Dave. Time

sure does fly" she looked at Dave. He looked a bit disappointed. "whatever makes my son happy will make me happy" she thought. "And that's

coming next week"
