I stepped aside from my bed, the night before my first day of school. I saw the rustling leaves outside my window.

"Stella! Get your dress down for the first day!" yelled my mom, to me, from the den, downstairs.

"I hate wearing dresses, mom! I'm wearing pants tomorrow, okay?!" I yelled to her. She never answered. "I will take that as an okay."

I got down my jeans and plaid, long sleeved, shirt that made my chest look flat, then I went to brush my teeth and go to bed.

The next day, my dad woke me up as my dog, Lillian, barked loudly downstairs. I got up, after 15 minutes of angry hesitation, and grabbed my outfit and brush. I got ready for school and ran downstairs. The bus was already at the stop, so I had no time to eat.

"Bye Pops! See you tomorrow morning," I said to my dad before I ran out the door.

I got on the bus and ran to the back. I already started seeing girls that were cute. No boys though, as always. I'm so dumb. Why can't I just like boys like normal girls do?

"I'm Laura- Grace. I go more by Lance though. What is your name?" a boy next to me said.

"I'm Stel-- I mean, I'm Sage." I said quickly, completely ignoring the fact that he could really know me.

"So, you a boy?" he asked quickly with a jersey-like accent.

"Uhh, yea. I assume you are too, bro..?" I said to him.

"Uhmm, yea."

We got to school, and got off the bus.

"First period?" I asked Lance.

"Mr. Jodd. You?" he asked me back.

"Mr. Jodd actually. Like a sitcom, haha!" I said as I tried to joke with him.

"My second and third is Mrs. Coella. Isn't she english?" I asked him as I stumbled into a 12th grader. He gave me a 'go to hell' look.

"No clue, she is a new teacher, and today is my first day. I assume it is your first day too." he said to me as he turned down our hall.

The bell rang for first period. "RIIING!" The hall got busier than it previously was.

"Yep. We better hurry. There is his classroom. Let's go." I said as I quickened my pace. Lance followed close behind, ducking and dodging locker doors and uncareful people.

We got to the classroom.

"Who are you two!?!" he said rudely. I could tell he was gonna be one of my least favorite teachers.

"I'm Stel--Sage, and this is Lance." I said as I hurried through my bag to get my papers to say I was a student. The only problem was, it had my real name. Stella. Fear entered my head like a tsunami.

What if he sends me to the office? What if he calls the security and gets me arrested? There was only one thing to do. Run, and that is exactly what I did.

I dropped my bag, jumping over and around my fellow peers. They looked at me as if I were insane. Lance looked at me, looked back at the teacher, then followed behind me, quicker than I'd expected him to be able to run.

I got to the end of the hallway. Behind me, Lance. He grabbed at my shoulder, startling me.

"What are you running from, Sage?" he asked as a person approached behind me. I could tell from the shadow, that he was a tall, slender man.

I turned sharply, to be abruptly greeted by Mr. Doual, our principal.
