He grabbed my arm, pulling me to the office. He tried to grab Lances's as well, but he flinched.

"I can come on my own, I am not a 2 year old. I may be different than you, but I'm not stupid." he said with a rude look in his eyes.

We got to the office, and he sat us down.

"Stay here, what is your phone number, young lady?" he said directed towards me.

"1. I'm male and 2. No." I said as I started standing up to get out.

He pushed me back, tripping me into the chair. Lance stood up and grabbed his arm as he looked at me with wide eyes.

Together, we pushed him back. I grabbed tape on the desk behind him and started taping his hands together. I shut his mouth, and taped him to the desk, as Lance held him still.

I grabbed Lance as the bell rang, so we could get out.

"Are you usually like this?" Lance asked as we ran to the front door to leave.

"Like what?" I asked.

"Lying, running away from teachers, being vandalist? I can't like someone like that," he said as he winked.

I grabbed his arm lightly.

"I ran because, I'm not Sage, I'm Stella. I thought this school would be a new start for me, but my mom got my papers done under my birth name and doesn't know I'm trans, I'm sorry."

He grabbed my hands, as he looked me in the eyes.

"Its fine, we are just the same."

"What are we suppose to do? Run? 'Cause I'd do it gladly. Get away from this hell. Start a new life." I said to Lance, while he leaned in closer to me.

I jumped away. "I-I have to."

"Where should we go first? Your house to get clothes, or mine?" he asked curiously.

"Mine. Follow me." I said, as I ran down a long, empty street, with not but one car going by. It was a tiny red, beat up car. It somehow seemed special to me, like no matter what, it would always keep going.

I ran down a block and two short streets before finally getting to my house.

I grabbed my keys out of my back pocket and unlocked the door. No one was home, except my drunk brother, who was passed out on the couch. I would say we had to stay quiet, to not be noticed, but that'd be a lie. My brother was such a heavy sleeper. It was almost funny.

We ran to my room. He looked around my room, confused.

"What's the look for?" I asked, sounding slightly offended.

"I would have expected you to be, well, more manly, or at least boyish I guess." he said.

"Sorry, I was six."

He was talking about my brightly pink and voilet coloured walls.

I grabbed some pants and shirts, as well as some shampoo, conditioner, body wash, brush, toothpaste, and money from my mom's dresser. $2,680.97 to be exact.

We got the heck out of there. The only problem was that I heard footsteps.

"Click-Click Click-Click Click-Click!" the footsteps got louder as they got closer.

I saw a shadow from down the hall. I bolted for the window. It was closed so, with all my will, I opened it (almost breaking it) and threw my stuff out. I jumped out behind my bag of things.

"C'mon! Jump down! We gotta get out of here! Now!" I yelled up to Lance as he slowly decended from the window.

He dropped, but I don't think it was because what I'd said. The reason I think he jumped is because as he ran towards me, my brother came to the window.

"Get outta here you burgerlering basta-- WAIT! Stella?" he yelled as I turned to look at him, still running for dear life.

"Run," I said demandingly. "To your house. It is in this neighborhood. RUN!"

He quickened his pace. Turning sharply at almost every corner.

"Where is this damn house?" I yelled as he slowed down.

"Language, please." he said as he stopped in front of a run-down, old looking house.

"This is your house?"

"Yea. A problem?"

"No, no. Just get your stuff and lets go. I'll stay outside and watch out. The codeword is hero." I said as I sat down next to my fully-stuffed bag.

"Hero?"

"Yea." I said, with a smile.

"Okay." he said.

He got his stuff and we got going to the stateline. It was about four and that's when we 'got out of school.' That is when our parents will know.

Know, that we are running for our lives.
