AN: It's been a whileeeeee.... Anywho. Picture of Henry at the top. (Corbin Bleu)
I looked down at the documents in front of me. Damn...this is it. My house is no longer mine. I have no home, no car, no help, ....no parents.
A seemingly tennis ball sized lump, bobbed in my throat as I fought my tears. The words on the page blurred and the paper was now splotched.
A plate, with crackers and cheese, slid in front of me and was quickly followed by a soothing hand to my back.
"Hey..."
"Hi." He sighed and pulled a chair out next to me.
"DeDe..." Henry started.
The nickname my parents gave me caused my eyes to water as a sob rose from my throat.
"What am I gonna do?" I wailed. "They were my only family!"
Henry pulled me onto his lap and rubbed my back as I pressed my face into his shoulder. "I'm here De, I'm here. You're my only family too."
"Henry... I love you."
Henry was an orphan. His mother died giving birth to him, her first child. I've known him ever since I can remember. His father used to be our chef; he passed of lung cancer 4 years ago. I guess "bomb culinary skills" ran in the family because Henry inherited the position with no complaints from my family.
"Orphan Squad..." I whispered. He stiffened.
"Kennedy."
I giggled. He giggled. Our giggles turned to hysterics.
"What the hell are we gonna do?" He laughed aloud.
Our hysterics quickly turned to sobs. "OH MY GOD. We're alone." My body wracked with sobs as I grabbed his collar and shook him. "Henry. There's no one to help us."
"We have to help ourselves. And each other." His whisper was followed by a knock on my front door. We both hopped up as the knocking got louder. Dude at my door, I'm gonna need you to chill.
"Yes?"
"Miss. Hamilton?"
"YES?" Oh. I just realized. I am not in the mood. Huh.
"I'm Sheriff Gorge with the Philadelphia Police Department. I am here to serve you your eviction papers. You have 36 hours to vacate the premises peacefully or a court date will be set accordingly. Have a nice day Miss. Hamilton."
Fuck.
