Outward appearance has all the appeal
If it's not flawless, you'll face their rejection
What traits of ours are we desperate to conceal?
Our focus on "physical" is like an infection
Obsessively checking your face in reflections
Styling your hair every morning devout
Checking your teeth to match their perceptions
Hopefully now you'll fit in, not stick out
Ugliness causes their utter dismissal
People will tell you you're not good enough
As you walk down the hall your self-confidence shrivels
You will be labeled, rejection is tough
Maybe some day there'll be no thing like spurning
We'll all be equals and forget our flaws
But no—our crave for self-beauty is burning
We'll do what we have to, to keep all their laws
Outward appearance can be so appealing
Isn't it what's on the inside that counts?
What is our outward appearance revealing
About inner self-worth, our intrinsic amount
The bluster and fluster of our daily lives
Can cause us to overlook things that do matter
Remember you don't get unlimited tries
To fix what our egocentric minds have scattered
The lesson of this—be all you can be
What matters is what other people can't see
