Class Presentations

So school is currently in full swing, which means teachers are kicking up the heat by giving out a ton of hundred point projects. These are more often than not oral, and spoken in front of the entire class.

I can recall sweating up a storm once simply because a video I had made was being broadcasted for the class to see. However, very recently I have overcome my phobia of oral projects, and discovered the secret to being fearless and confident during presentations. Fearlessness and confidence almost ALWAYS leads to you acing the assignment (It's worked every time for me!)

In the great words of Nike: "Just Do it..... 'Because you're going to have to anyway'" Welcome any opportunity to present by not just opening the door, but by inviting it in for a night cap . The SECOND I realized I'd be presenting for the rest of my God given life in some way shape or form I decided I might as well do it with some level of confidence.

Being afraid of presenting literally does NOTHING to change the fact that you have to present, being afraid does however usually have a negative effect on how certain things will turn out.

Another good way to do well on presentations is to actually practice out loud... I know it's annoying and there's so much other stuff we deal with as teens that seems more important than presentation skills, but in the end presentation is simply communication- something we will all need at one point or another.

Teachers can tell when students are prepared. One way you can show them- or make them think you are- is by not relying on much written material and making some eye contact. A lot of other students more than likely will rely heavily on their written material simply out of fear, you not doing the same will give you an advantage when your teacher is grading you. Even if some of the material is wrong they'll likely give you the benefit of the doubt due to how it was presented. For even more points go first and do well. They'll fall from their seats with shock!

As I said before you don't necessarily HAVE to FULLY comprehend what you're presenting - and I know it would be hard to with all we deal with as teens- but having an understanding of whatever you're presenting will definitely give you a boost of confidence when presenting. With understanding your project you won't have to worry about anyone asking questions at the end which you can't answer.

Though I'd say it isn't essential, I'd tell you to make sure you understand the basics of whatever your project is on, also an understanding of certain little details will go a long way. Prioritize what's important to know, and know it.

If you're going to present, it's going to happen whether you're confident, or working up a sweat with worry. One will get you an average grade, the other will open numerous doors. You decide.

Heyyyyy, so I was contemplating making this book for awhile and I finally did. Woot woot!!! Feel free to comment any areas you'd like me to cover in the next chapter
