"Where are we going?" Angelus asked as we came to a slow. "Home." I replied with a warm smile. "Home? But-" I cut her off. "Just to get supplies ya' know?" She nodded. After about 2 hours or so we spotted the neighborhood. "Do we just check every house?" Angelus asked. "No, I check every house and you stand lookout." I replied as we approached the first 4 houses. "Awww!" She whined. "Every 4 houses we will move. Got it?" She nodded in response. After I set her in a hidden position I headed to the first house. Half of it was reduced to rumble and the roof was gone. "Kitchen first I guess." I mumbled. I searched through the remaining cabinets and found 3 cans of potato soup and a shaker full of pepper. "Heh. If only I had a can opener. . ."  I continued on to the bathroom and living room. In the bathroom I found eye drops and aspirin. As I searched the living room I came across a photo of 2 little girls with their mother and father. "Humph." I shrugged off the nostalgia and threw the photo on the floor. I had enough of that house. I exited through a hole where the wall once was. "Back." I called over to Angelus. She smiled when she spotted the items I was carrying. "Got any secret compartments on that wheelchair of yours?" I laughed quietly. Angelus examined her wheelchair. "I do!" My eyes went wide. "So much for my rhetorical question." I giggled. Angelus pressed something on the wheelchair and a basket popped up under the chair. "Perfect!" I sighed in relief as I disposed the items into the basket. "On to house #2." I mumbled.

As I entered the second house I immediately noticed it was in better tact then all the others. It even still had a second floor. There must be some good stuff. I made it a routine to check the kitchen first. After searching the cabinets, pantry, and drawers I found 2 cans of corn, 1 can of green beans, 3 shakers of cinnamon, and a container of strawberries. "Score!" I danced around while holding it up. I went ahead and searched the bathroom; making sure to avoid the living room. "Just a brush?!" I sighed. "Well it couldn't hurt to bring it." I headed upstairs to see if anything useful was up there. But what I found was repulsive. Lying on the floor of one of the bedrooms was a dead child. "He said only adults died. Unless he was killed by the explosions. . ." I shrugged and left the room. Whimpering came from the other bedroom. I looked through the doorway cautiously. An American Staffordshire Terrier trembled under the bed. Awww poor guy. "Hey boy." I whistled. "Hey it's alright come here. . ." I reached out my hand for it to sniff. He came out very slowly and sniffed my hand. He sat down and seemed friendly. "Hi boy. What's your name?" I checked the collar. Canis. "Hello Canis." He started to wag his tail. "Want to come with me and meet Angelus?" He stood up when I stood up so I assumed he wanted to come. I walked back downstairs and out the door over to Angelus. The look of surprise and happiness on her face made me feel warm and fuzzy. "Puppy?!!" She squealed. "His name is Canis." I smiled and put the food in the basket. Canis barked and jumped on Angelus' lap. She giggled and starting petting him. "Looks like we need 3 times the food now." She said as she studied Canis. "I'll make sure to look for extra food while I'm in here!" I called as I stepped inside the third house.

It was a one story house and the roof was clean off. The walls were badly damaged too. After I searched the kitchen and found 2 packs of raw hotdogs and another container of strawberries. "Just my luck!" I grinned. I walked down the hallway to what looks like 2 bedrooms. I headed to the biggest one. There were  two beds, but that's all that can be made out of it. "Guess I'll check the bathro-" I stepped on something soft. Please don't be what I think it is. I looked down and picked up a pink stuffed rabbit. "This looks like. . ." I looked around and it dawned on me. I'm home. I immediately went to mom's room to retrieve the gun she always keeps under her bed in a small brown box. "This will be of good use. . .thank you Mom." I walked outside and put my findings in the basket. "Angelus." She was distracted with Canis. "Yes?" She looked at me worriedly. "I found this behind one of the houses." I showed her the rabbit. She smiled as her eyes become glossy. "Thank you." She said as she took it and snuggled with Canis. "No problem, but I think we need a place to stay for tonight." Angelus looked up at the sky. "Mhm, its already dark. "I know a house but I have to clear a path for you." Angelus nodded. I headed back to the second house and disposed of the child's body. After I went to retrieve Angelus and Canis and brought them into the house I settled them into the beds. I let Angelus and Canis have the big bedroom while I claim the child's bedroom.

The next morning was not what I wanted to expect...
