AFTER ALL THESE YEARS

Prologue

Dipper's POV

As we sit on the bus waiting to get to Gravity Falls, I can't stop thinking about our last time there.
Flashback to meeting Wendy's friends
I look and see one with blonde hair as we walk outside. She's pretty. She has blonde hair and blue eyes, as blue as the ocean. She is dressed in a blue hoodie and jean shorts with blue converse. She has in these silver earrings. Wendy introduces them to us and says the girls name last. "This is Pearl, she's really cool." Pearl walks up to Mabel and compliments her sweater and skirt. I guess it's cause their style is similar. Sweater, skirt and sweater, shorts. Then I look and notice a really expensive diamond on her head. Attached to it are pearls that encircle her head, kind of like how hippies wear their headbands. Hers had a beautiful blue diamond mixed in with these really pretty greens, kind of like the colors of the ocean, with white pearls coming out of it to fit on her head. She smiles at me and gives a little wave then walks back to the car. "Let's go guys I've got big plans for today" Wendy says and we all hop into the car.

I remember her, she became my best friend.
Flashback
It was time. Pearl and I's friendship has become really strong and I was finally ready to tell her about the journals. I approached her when she was alone and asked for a moment. "Sure" she replied and followed me to the woods. I took out the journal and explained to her how I found it and what it was and everything I know about it. She took it carefully and flipped through the pages. "Dipper this is, wow." She said. "You think I'm crazy, don't you?" I sad to her. "No, actually. I'm a really good example of this myself." She said and closed the book and smiled at me. "You what?!" I asked, confused and interested. "Yeah, I'm half mermaid. My dad is the owner of the technology company her in gravity falls. It's the biggest company here. He took his private jet one day to an island for a break. My mom is mermaid royalty who was in the ocean at the time. She came a little too close to shore and met my dad. The island isn't very populated since it's so expensive my mom moms family thought it would be safe, nope! My dad extended his trip there as did my mom because they fell in love. Then I happened and was human, well mostly. So my dad had to leave and go back to Gravity Falls with me. My mom returned home. She lives in the ocean not too far from here. I go there every weekend hoping to find her, I've never met her. Mermaid royalty is born with this diamond attached to some part of their body so yeah, it's part of my head. As a half mermaid, I can breathe underwater and swim faster than any human. But that's pretty much it."
Flashback over
From that day forward we had given each other our trust. She helped me find the author of the journals while I helped her find her mom. We found the author, he was my family and all, but we never found her mom. I felt bad about that when I had to leave. She had helped me so much but we never found her mom, so I felt like I hadn't done anything for her. I remember going to the beach with her every weekend.
Flashback
"Guys it's my turn to chose what we do this weekend!" Pearl said to the Wendy group. "Okay, what do you choose?" Asked Wendy. "Well, my dad recently bought the newest RV, so let's take it to the beach! It's only like an hour to an hour and a half from here! We can go surfing and spend the weekend there. I'm a regular customer at a specific fancy hotel right across the street from the beach! They assigned a room to me and you can look out from the balcony and see the beach. Come on!" They agreed and we went home to pack. The day of the trip came and we all loaded our bags into the new RV. Pearl loaded up the surf boards. When we got to the beach, the sun was out and it was beautiful. We all ran onto the beach and dove in. Pearl asked me to help her get the surfboards and carry them, I agreed and we had a small conversation on finding her mom here. Pearl and I ran into the water with the boards, quickly joined by Wendy. Pearl of course won the surfing competition we had but I didn't care. Eventually we just sat on our boards playing games like truth or dare, 20 questions, stuff like that and talking. Pearl said that we can go back she's just going to jump in one more time. I knew what she was really doing though. I went back anyways and 20 mins later we were back in the RV soaking wet with Pearl behind the wheel going to the hotel.

We pull up to the Mystery Shack, interrupting my thoughts. I wake Mabel, who had fallen asleep on the way here, and grab my bags. I was really nervous. I wonder how things have changed.
