A flage falls into the water. "BEEEEEEPPP" a loud megaphone blasted the area. Water spatter in my face like water on a pan... It sizzles. Yet it was refreshing for what the situation i was in. "POWER TEN ...ONE ...TWO...THREE...FOUR...FIVE...SIX...SEVEN...EIGHT...NINE...TEN" the tiny tenth grader screamed in my face.

I watch my reflection in her sunglasses. All I see is a girl around the age of thirteen, brown curly hair, eyes with brown on the outside and a bright green on the inside, tan, buff and with an extra pain look on her face. But this is not a story of pain. It is one of triumph, victory and love. Around me were other teams competing for something that we all came for. Winning!!!!

"EYES INSIDE THE BOAT TARYN" the blacked hair 95 pound girl that sat in front on me.  Now that I think about it... There was no point in yelling because she had a microphone hooked around her head. I quickly get back in the game. A small roar creeped over the water and got louder by every stroke. But still with eyes in the boat. But I could feel us up in the front.

"GO W-L" we heard repeating over and over again through the other cheers loud and clear.

I moved faster from my body and my slide pushed out from my feet harder than I ever thought was possible. My heart was racing like a cheetah against the ground of a safari. It hurt. I felt like I could just melt down and cry forever. But I have seven people behind my back counting on each other to ... well... win.

There is a moment in life where everything slows down. You hear your heart beat in a slow tempo but you know that is faster than anything on earth. When you take in the little things that go on around you. At this moment i look beside me and all i see is clear water. But when I look towards the start line i see the next boat about 50 meters away from my boat.

You would think at thais point i would stop trying but one little slip up and it could get the whole boat under the water. Power ten after power ten is being called while i use every muscle in my body to pull the boat forward.

"BEEEEEEEEP" is the next thing i hear.

"Wayn- off" the cocsin says in front of me.
